7800 Euro controllers on the Atari Falcon...

Recommended Posts

Obviously they have an issue (or, the Falcon has an issue with them)

as to I can't play games (or boot the Falcon) with the 7800 Euro

controllers plugged in or it beeps like mad and screws up my Falcon.

Is there something I can do (modwise) to these controllers

to get the to act like NORMAL 2600 ones yet use both buttons as one

single button?

Any ideas/suggestions appreciated!

Thanks,

Clint Thompson

I think here is trouble with the buttons. Both CX24s buttons are connected through resistor to pin 5 and 9 and I think ST (and Falcon) cannot conform it. STs has only one button connected to pin 6 which must be switched to ground.

Methinks krupkaj is absolutely correct. None of my ST computers liked the Pro-Line and I'm sure the joypad isn't any different. Would lock up or crash immediately. Has to be in the buttons but I have no tech experience to help ya. Sorry.

Its both the euro controller and the original pro controller.... the ST keyboard controller has no liking for them (except for playing games) and I've found this to drive my keyboards nuts on a 1040STfm, Mega ST 4 and a TT030, so it appears to be across the board on all ST keyboards and the 7800 controllers.

Its annoying to have to keep unplugging them, but such is life :-)

Nah.. no more unplugging, I'm bound to win that mouse master!

heh... never really thought about it but that might do the trick.

Worse comes to worse, I can just implement a switch that turns the controller on and off(er, kind of) yea ... you know what I'm saying.. :)
