Final Fantasy games supposed return to Nintendo?

I was watching X-Play, and the next Gamecube release will be Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, which is a bit like a Gauntlet style game, apparently.

I watch X-Play.

Sessler is cool, and Morgan is cool and smokin hot. Plus they loved Panzer Dragoon Orta, as opposed to Judgment Day, which rips on everything.

Square has already started making games for Nintendo systems again. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was already mentioned, and there's also Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Sword of Mana on the GBA.

 

I have no idea if they plan on releasing "true" Final Fantasy games, or whether they're just going to do other spinoff games like this... it's very very unlikely that they'll become a Gamecube-exclusive company though... I'm sure the next dozen Final Fantasy games (not counting spinoffs) will be on the PS2/PS3/etc.

FF belonged to Squaresoft. Square grew tired of Nintendo dictating what the game should have and/or re-writing the scripts to remove adult themes. So Square moved to Sony where no such restrictions existed and a game like FF7 could be released without Nintendo censhorship.

 

I doubt Square will go back to Nintendo's heavy-handedness.

 

The only reason FF: Crystal Chronicles exists is because Nintendo forbade Square from touching the Gameboy... unless they also developed for the Cube.

Square won't EVER go to a losing system. That and the fact that nintendo is WAY to strict on what the let square do. Even tactics advance and crystal chronicles are VERY dumbed down with simplistic kiddy graphics.

 

FFAdvance being pretty easy with a VERY kiddy story, and chronicles not being as much of a true rpg as most FF games.

Is that Nintendo's doing, or Square's? Perhaps Square decided to make the games like this because the Gamecube is generally seen as the more "kiddie" of the three consoles? Seems like Crystal Chronicles is certainly better suited to the Gamecube than it is to the PS2.

 

I would think that Nintendo, knowing it's own position in the industry, and knowing how ravenous Square's fans are, would let Square do basically whatever they want. Of course, Nintendo probably doesn't think the same way I do.

Actually I think the new style is kind of kiddy, I wish people would stop griping about different styles. Bad memories of Zelda bashers. I love when a series takes on a new style rather than following the crowd...enjoy the game for what it is! ::steps down from soapbox::
