Or should you remove the cart every time your done playing?

I almost always keep a cart plugged in just to help keep dust out of the contacts. I've heard that it can weaken the connector, but after close to 10 years of doing this, my original Jaguar hasn't had any problems.

Hey, JagWarlord! 8)

This discussion has been brought up before although, I can't find the thread. From what I can remember, Thunderbird summed it up and said it was a no win situation either way. Leaving the cart in 24/7 will eventually widen the contacts in the cart port and removing/replacing would.... um, do something else. Can't remember exactly what was said....

EDIT: Here it is

Check out the third post from the top. :)

Im not worried about the system though....just the cart.

It won't hurt the cart. You're in good shape bud, and I'm thrilled you decided not to sell your collection!

lol, don't worry about the cart I'm pretty sure most of them (the carts) will out live us, hehe, I got my Colecovision and my old carts that still run just fine and I also leave my game carts inserted in the cart slot after playing them often for almost 20 years.

Leaving a cart plugged in all the time won't hurt the cart itself. But it can potentially drain the battery. Some systems are worse than others about this. I'm not sure if Jag's bad about it or not, though Doom's never been deleted from leaving it in for years.

Jag's dont have batteries, savegame states are saved on serial eeprom, which requires no power to maintain. The Jag itself has no battery either as nothing gets saved to it.
