RCmodeler #1 Posted December 4, 2003 I've just spent the last 4 hours playing this, and once again, I don't see why SW: RR got all these negative reviews. I think it's a great racing game! Lots of speed, cool graphics, and awesome John Williams' music. I was planning to sell it, but I think this is a keeper. Just curious: How does the N64 version compare? I'm thinking about getting it if it's a better game.
liveinabin #2 Posted December 5, 2003 I think RR got bad reviews just because it's pretty much the same as the N64 game (which looked great with the expansion pack).
RCmodeler #3 Posted December 5, 2003 So the N64 game used hi-res 640x480 mode?
liveinabin #4 Posted December 5, 2003 Um, yeah - I think so. It was certainly very sharp. Nice game - one of the better racers on the N64 (not that there was a lot of competition).
Adrian M #5 Posted December 5, 2003 So the N64 game used hi-res 640x480 mode? If you had the expansion pack, yes, you could run it in high res mode (with some tradeoff in regards to frame rate). I found it pretty fun running in standard mode. They really did a great job with that game on N64 and it was even bundled with the system for a few months. +DamonicFury #6 Posted December 5, 2003 I've played A LOT of Racer Revenge and the original Racer (on PC, not N64) and there are enough differences to make the purchace of RR worthwhile. For me, the biggest improvement over RR is the fact that you can destroy your opponents pod's! It is SO much fun to repeatedly ram another pod until it bursts into pieces. Also, getting one's own pod destroyed ends the race in RR... the originalRacer worked more like good ol' Pole Position in that destroying your racer only loses you time. Both games are a lot of fun, but I'd have to give the edge to Race Revenge.

The graphics were almost PS1 level (not inluding resoluton)
RCmodeler #8 Posted December 5, 2003 I haven't played F-zero GX yet for my Cube. How does it compare?
