Adrian M #1 Posted December 8, 2003 http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/236103.asp This is news to me as I've heard nothing about it until now. It's supposed to be some type of old-school 2D sidescrolling shooter (like Contra or Metal Slug), which is a genre I normally enjoy. Does anyone own it and if yes, how is it? Shinto #2 Posted December 8, 2003 IGN has a review here: http://xbox.ign.com/articles/458/458132p1.html The review isn't too favorable, but it's a budget title, and the 2D-sidescroller-in-3D-engine thing sounds pretty slick. I'd probably pick it up if it had co-op play.
Malix #3 Posted December 8, 2003 From the looks of it and the description it does look like a suped up Contra. That game looks fun!
Starscream #4 Posted December 8, 2003 I'll have it this week and let ya guys know.
Clock #5 Posted December 8, 2003 I just looked at that site and can not believe the amount of games on there that are not available in Europe....... I wonder if we have some that you guys don't get?
Adrian M #6 Posted December 8, 2003 I just looked at that site and can not believe the amount of games on there that are not available in Europe....... I wonder if we have some that you guys don't get? There's one game in particular that (I believe) was only released in Europe. Yager for the XBOX. I remember reading about it in the earliest XBOX magazine issues and marvelling at the awesome graphics and gameplay elements. Alas, it has not been released in the US and probably never will. I hear it's out in the UK though...can anyone confirm?
Clock #7 Posted December 8, 2003 Yager is a good game ruined by the worst voice acting ever found in a game. It's so bad you just don't want to play this otherwise good game.

the-daryl #9 Posted December 8, 2003 That game looks decent enough. I would want it for sure if it offered Co-op. ARE there any co-op side scroller contra-esque games even for the Xbox?
Shinto #10 Posted December 9, 2003 ARE there any co-op side scroller contra-esque games even for the Xbox? It's a tall order to find any Xbox game that's co-op on the same screen (my wife can't stand split-screen). All I've found are a handful of RPGs, like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, D&D Heroes, Hunter: the Reckoning (and its seqel, Redeemer), and LotR: Return of the King. They're good games, but I would love some more variety in the co-op vein. Contra-esque would fit nicely. Maybe it's too unreasonable to ask for 2D-style games on a contemporary system. Namco Collection lets you play the arranged versions of Pac-Man and Dig Dug with 2players simultaneously.

Can you tell me when it was released? It was released earlier this year - looking at magazine reviews which were done in Feb/March I would guess at April 2003 release

Good fun games include Fuzion Frenzy and Kung Fu Chaos (both better with 4 players) I understand Starskey and Hutch is also 2 players one can use lightgun and the other a steering wheel but I have never played it so not sure how good it is. You've also got Micro Machines, DOA volley ball and I would imagine Top Spin Tennis (I have not played this yet either). There is also a load of button basher beat-em-ups and the best of all ToeJam & Earl Thats a fair few off the top of my head.
