Swordquest: Fireworld championship version?

Recommended Posts

As I recall, Atari made a special version of Fireworld that was used for the big championship contest that they held, where all the competitors had to play it and the first one to beat it, won. Does anyone know if the competitors got to keep the special version of the game?

The reason that I ask is because ages ago, I found someone's photos of the event with a stash of games at a junk shop; it was a few years ago now, but it occurs to me that I *might* have picked up my copy of Firworld from that pile of games, and so it *might* have been whatever version was used for the contest.

I probably *didn't* get it that day, but the thought occurred to me on the way to work and I figured if anyone would know about the competition version of Fireworld, it's y'all.

Anyone know?

AFAIK no they didn't. However I believe the contest version was used for the PAL version.

I asked the same question a month ago and most people said that they were the same ones as the PAL versions. Do you have any of those photos to post here of the Fireworld event?

:) :) :?

I sent color photocopies in to Atari Connection back in the day, and they eventually posted them on their site; I don't know if they're still on it. The issue they ran in was something like 58 or 59, I think.

Yes, thank you for the Photos, they are great and to see what the sword looked like is just too much, I wonder if it really is sitting over a fire place right now!!
