Just some info. I was only going to have 20 carts made but added an additional 20 copies due to demand. I only charged $14 for the whole package which is actually a loss to me. I am putting my copy up for auction because I am having a special clear version of the cart made for myself.

 

I may be taking this wrong, but the above post make it look like I am trying to rip someone off or artifically inflate the price? I have already posted that anyone that wants a copy of the game can get one, but it won't have the extras with it. Only 40 were made as a package. I started the bidding at $10 and if it goes for that, that's fine.

 

I could easily have made only 20 and charged $20 plus, and they would have all sold. I will also be offering Cosmic Bowling at cost in January.

It's a little different when the programmer or in this case, the creator of the hack is doing the selling.

 

Alot of programmers and whatycha call them hak0rZ sell beta copies like Space Invaders Collection on CV for example. Neo is just selling the last via auction instead of the first. And it's a limited thing because it's a XMAS 2003 cart he doesn't want to get stuck with.

Why did you choose to use Yahoo auctions? I'm just curious because it doesn't seem like items sold there get the kind of exposure they do on Ebay.

I'm guessing becuase he has an account there? But between here & DP, I think it will get quite a bit of exposure. Sure didn't take long for McGrail to find it! I actually saw it from DP first & clicked the link and there was Sean's bid! Then I came here and saw it had been posted on this fourm as well.

I'm there everyday as well and I don't keep up with much either. LOL I have sort of stopped posting there thou. I see you post to the buy & selling forums, I pretty much never post there, but still follow some threads, just not enough time to keep up with everything on multiple boards.

 

This looks like a pretty good hack. I'm wondering if this couldn't be sold on a individual basis, in the future, maybe with a updated label, if people wanted to buy one from him?

IIRC that was his intention when the holidays passed.

 

I also post at DP once in a great while, but I mostly lurk there. It's a great site, but I have to convert the site so I can actually read it since the color scheme there is a nightmare for someone who's color blind. I think I have less than 10 posts total

The color scheme is no excuse not to check out DP, if you go into your profile you can change the color schemes. If you go into your profile you'll see subred is the default layout, change it to subsilver and the DP boards start to look just like these AA boards

 

I snagged one of these nice Xmas carts, I think he usually posts most of his hack news on DP but the for sale announcement was more prominent in the 2600 forum here this time. He even kept a running tab for a few days on how many out of 40 were left.

I hadn't seen that! I've still been using the woodgrain version, never could see the black one well. But it's still odd seeing ppls sig files with odd color text, guess they think it works well with the black, but for ppl with other colors it's way off. Thanks for the tip!

Due to past problems with Ebay, I will not use them for my auctions. I still buy items on Ebay but that is a neccesary evil. Using Yahoo does cut down on the number of newbie bids who have no idea what they are bidding on, but by posting on Atariage and Digital Press the people who are interested usually see it. (almost 200 views as of this morning)

 

For anyone that still wants a DP Xmas cart I will have additional copies made in January and there will be a series 2 or something on the label. It will only be cartridge and instruction sheet. I will post here on AA when I am ready to offer them as well as Cosmic Bowling and Death Race. If you have reserved a copy of Cosmic Bowling I will notify you around the middle of January.

 

Just an idea for new copies of DPXmas. Not yet official. It may also just be a plain label.
