SpendTooMuchOnAtari #1 Posted December 17, 2003 I have one of these on the way and am just wondering how it is. If you have it....do you like it? If not, why? I am connected to the internet through my cable. I think the only game I have that is compatible right now is T.H.U.G, what other games are good? I am thinking of Madden 2003 because I have NCAA Football 2003 and it is awesome! I am just excited about getting this and am wondering what y'all think of it. Thanks! Sylentwulf #2 Posted December 17, 2003 I've had mine since launch day, and I've used it 2-3 times <shrug> Madden 2003 should be AWESOME online, and I'm sure there are a ton of other great games to use it with, I just don't have any of them That, and the main problem with ANY online non-MMORPG games, you're GOING to get OWNED the first 20 times you play. I know that I am a little slow for the most part but I don't understand what you mean. -

SpendTooMuchOnAtari #5 Posted December 17, 2003 LOL! Now I get it and you know what, that is 100% correct. The more I think of it, the more I think that this little modem thing will frustrate me beyond belief. You should be able to somehow pick skill levels for people to play or something like that. I don't know what it's like yet because I didn't get the mail today. For what it's worth, I will post what I think of it later.
video game addict #6 Posted December 18, 2003 I just bought one a few days ago, haven't even hooked it up yet. I need another cable to go from the computer room back to the back side of the house in my game room, or one of those cordless types or something, I have no way to hook up to my router right now. I just bought NFS Underground this week it's suppose to play online as well, somewhat anyway, but until I get all hooked up I don't know what it's like. Some games you have to pay to play! Some are free! I've never played online games before! I've had the DC since launch, owned a couple Saturns, The PS2 since Launch, and have a GCN, but never tried out any online games. SpendTooMuchOnAtari #9 Posted December 18, 2003 Some games you have to pay to play! Some are free! WHAT!? You have to pay? Who? How? I didn't know that I would have to pay for anything after I bought the adapter and the games. What a bummer! I didn't get mine yet, probably today and I am now trying to figure out how I will have it hooked up since I already have my cable split between my TV and my external cable modem. How do you go about this? -

How do you go about this? you will probably need a router. The only games that you have to pay for (that I know of anyways) are the EverQuest Online games. SpendTooMuchOnAtari #11 Posted December 18, 2003 Pain in the ass, I agree BUT.... I suppose I could just unhook the cable from the television when I wanted to play and plug it into the adapter. About how much are routers? Exactly what does it do. I know, I know...I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box when it comes to electronics, computers and so on. But, at least I admit it! pestilent #12 Posted December 18, 2003 Jeremy, Do you mean you are going to take the cable's coaxial cable and hook up to the PS2 network adaptor? You can't do that. You need to have a cat5 cable (the big phone line looking cables) going from your cable modem to the adaptor. The best bet is to get a router. A router in simple terms is just a splitter. It routes data to different computers, hence its name. I think you can get a cheap 4 port router at best buy or similar store for 20 to 30 bucks. You don't need a router, but with a router you can keep your computer and PS2 hooked up and on the net at the same time. hope this helps you out. Now the damn slow ass USPS just needs to get that adaptor to you!
SpendTooMuchOnAtari #13 Posted December 18, 2003 OK, I am starting to get a little confused here (it doesn't take much) but... until I get the router, I could unplug the cord that goes from my modem to the computer and plug it into the adapter? I realize that I wouldn't be able to have the internet and the PS2 hooked up at the same time which is a pain but for now, that would work, right? (unless your cable modem is hooked to your computer with a USB port. But I am sure it probably isn't.) As long as you have the big phone line looking cable going from your cable modem to your computer, you can "unplug the cord that goes from my modem to the computer and plug it into the adapter." Great! I am all set for now then. Thanks for helping me out! Now, I need to find a cheap Madden 2003. -
PaulEMoz #16 Posted December 18, 2003 Great! I am all set for now then. Thanks for helping me out! Now, I need to find a cheap Madden 2003. - Ah, but is that still supported? I haven't really palyed online games, and I've only just got DSL myself, but I think EA have a habit of dropping support for a game once the newest version is out. Others may know more on this though. I'm thinking of buying a network adapter for Need For Speed Underground....

I would look into it first.
