belboz #1 Posted December 17, 2003 As the subject says. Has anyone used a Scan Doubler with their ST or STE to get access to the color resolutions on a normal SVGA monitor? I've seen some devices for anywhere from $30 on up that supposedly will take a VGA signal that is 15.75KHz signal and double it to 31.5KHz. I'm curious about any recommendations on any specific models that give as good as quality output as the Atari color monitors (or as close as possible). I've seen the "sync" doubler the Amiga fans have, but that only doubles the sync signal and you need a switch to flip between the two halves of the screen. Here is a scan doubler I have seen quite a bit for $38. http://ps2modchip.com/search.php?page=contact
tjlazah #2 Posted January 6, 2004 Well I can tell you I have a few Scan Doublers for Amigas and there is no switch. It just outputs the video from 15KHz to 31KHz so it works on VGA or Multisync monitors. Not sure for the ST. I have this one nice one for my A1200 that plugs into the RGB port and has a SVGA port on the other end and my PC monitor connects to it. Works nice. Still flickers in Hi Res though! In my Amiga 4000 I have a internal Video card with built in Scan Doubler and that does switch from 24bit modes to native modes automaticaly.
