tmx #1 Posted December 18, 2003 I was at a dairy queen in Dallas, GA yesterday and in there display case they had a very clean nice looking heavy sixer just sitting there! I was tempted to ask them if they'd sell it... Oh well, it was pretty neat seeing one in there... Any one else ever seen one in a fast food place? All the Dairy Queens by me are closed for the season. Did you find out why they had a heavy sixer in a display case in their store? That seems odd since it hasn't been commercially available for some time. I'd be interested in knowing what their reason for having one in there was. Adrian M #3 Posted December 18, 2003 This is rather puzzling. I'm not sure why a Dairy Queen would have an Atari console sitting on display in the first place. Oddly enough, a while back, we posted several threads regarding how wonderful the various Ice cream products are at Dairy Queen...particularly Cherry Dilly bars. Perhaps this is an omen? tmx #4 Posted December 18, 2003 They had in the middle of the store, between where you order and where you sit down a glass display case of older toys, cars etc. etc. All sitting in a display case, i was just standing there waiting to order and turned around and right in front of my face was the heavy sixer. They had a bunch of just random things. It was a very nice/clean sixer, with paddles and it looked like a brand new star wars game in it. I was suprised to see it was a sixer though... maximebeauvais #5 Posted December 18, 2003 it is xmas time and maybe they are taking donation from people
tmx #6 Posted December 18, 2003 Naw, it was just a display, like it was where you get all the condiments, and then there was glass display cases over the top of that, and all the way down the bottom. It was a built in display case, so i would assume it's just kept there year round cause it wasn't "christmasy" or anything...
bjk7382 #7 Posted December 18, 2003 Yeah, the dairy queens around here are all 50's retro and they have display cases with a bunch of 1950's crap.

And yes, Cherry Dilly Bars have no equal (when your local Dairy Queen has them, that is).
ATARIPITBULL #11 Posted December 19, 2003 I've never had one and the way you guys are talking about them, I want one now, but I'm going to have to wait a while.
AtariDude #12 Posted December 20, 2003 I remember when I was a kid living in NJ, the Dairy Queens always closed for winter time. Living in South Florida however, there are a few Dairy Queens close by and they stay open all year long As for the heavy sixer, maybe that store is on a nostaglia kick or maybe someone from the Atariage board is an employee of that particular Dairy Queen. Whoever you are, fess up
Albert #13 Posted December 20, 2003 Thank goodness the Dairy Queens here in Texas don't close "for the season". I just went to one a few days ago. No Atari 2600 consoles in sight, though! ..Al
