On/Off Switch doing weird things...Please HELP!

Hello,

It turns off just fine, and once it's on it runs fine. But all of a sudden latley, when i turn it on (most of the time turns right on) But latley, i will have to sit there 10 seconds then it will turn on. Othertime i'll have to wiat 30secs-minute and currentley i can't even get it to come on. Have any idea what i should do to fix that? Please let me know, I've never taken it apart, so if thats something i need/have to do, please lead me to some instructions, or give me some info on how. Please help anyone. Thanks..

I think your 2600's On/Off switch is starting to fail. You can order a new one at Best Electronics (http://www.best-electronics-ca.com).

You can actually take the switch itself apart and bend the little contact springs inside up. Usually when I take them apart they are all full of black stuff that makes them not work good. After you clean all of that out of there it works fine.

 

Note that it isn't really easy taking the switches apart and there are some small parts inside (2 contact springs) I cleaned out and redid my power, reset and game select switches. So if you are mechanically inclined, you can redo it yourself.
