AA Store question: Are Homebrew carts "made to order?&q

Recommended Posts

Something that I've wondered...does the AA store make homebrew and hack carts "to order" or do they have several copies of each title made ahead of time and ready to ship out?

I understand the games that come with boxes (ie: Thrust+, the various repros, etc) are in finite supply, but how about the games that come with cart and manual?

I'm just curious how this works, that's all! :)

Depends on the game, most carts we do have several copies made in advance, which makes it much easier to ship orders quickly when they arrive. When we run out of a particular game, some may then be built to order.

I will say that I've had to make quite a few of those GreetingCarts in the last two weeks. Thus far around 75 of them have been sent out.

Only the games with boxes, and those that are explicitly listed as a limited edition, are in finite supply. All others can be made indefinitely.

And maybe Thrust+ will be sold without boxes then. ;)

A few questions on the latest version of Thrust...

1) @Albert: Are there any boxed copies left for this? I really want to upgrade to the latest version (the music is awesome!), but if there are no boxes left I'll probably keep my current copy and store both cartridges in there.

2) What other upgrades (besides music) does the newer version have? (This will help me to decide what priority this game is for ordering in the future. Right now I play an mp3 of the Thrust music while I play.)

3) Does the latest version of Thrust also support the DC controller? Now that I've been playing it every night with the pedals and DC controller, I can't imagine going back to using a stick. (This game is great to play during long conversations with the family - when I'm barely listening to what they have to say... and need a diversion.)

Buhbye.

I just got Thrust and it had a box and yes it supports the driving controller. I'd suggest getting ther footcontroller too if you want to use the driving controller though. I tried using my old Amiga joyboard instead. It wasn't pretty :D

Indeed, I should have clearer on that point. There are a finite number of boxes available, so once the boxes are gone, further copies of said games will be without boxes.

Yes, there are still boxes available. I think we've gone through about half of them at this point.

In addition to the music and sound effects (and version number displayed onscreen), there are no other differences in the actual game. However, a brand new, gorgeous manual was created by Dave Exton, as well as a new label to match. And the front of the box has a spiffy "Platinum Edition" sticker. :)

Yes, you can use the Driving Controller.
