I'd say Gamecube, unless you want to play online, but they're both good consoles. If you don't want to wait for replies, there are like a million of this topic floating around on this forum.

I vote for gamecube. While there are a few good titles for x-box, I think there are more good games for the cube that you can't get elsewhere.

Seeing as my Xbox currently has more games than my GameCube, I say Box. Though, that's just for Serious Sam, Wolfenstein and Halo. Then Halo 2 and DOOM 3 later on.

It's not a matter of which system has more games necessarily for me, since I only buy a small number of games--less than 5 per year (and I suspect others do the same) for my next-gen system. The key is to tailor your choice to the platform that has the games YOU feel you'd like to play most.

XBOX has a good variety of games. But sometimes too many choices can be tough on a consumer as you will likely pass up many good games for every title you purchase. Are you a fan of Nintendo-style games? Do you enjoy RPG's? FPS? Since you don't plan to do much online gaming, I think you'd be safer with a GameCube since the current bundle package is pretty tough to resist.

Think about what I said and make your decision.

I also vote horse.

Or if a horse is out of your price range go for a helper monkey...they can get beers out of the fridge for you.

This is unfortunatly a pointless threas as it ends up with people just saying their console is the best.

I had all 3 but sold Cube and PS2 to keep the Xbox because in my opinion it has better games.

All 3 consoles are great and there is no bad choice but the Xbox can do things the others can't and the things they can do the Xbox can do better.

Easy choice...... and Xbox live is superior to the PS2 online capabilities. (Broadband only and headset on all games)

Of course if you can afford the Horse then go for it - vastly superior in every way plus it comes with the unique feature of smell-o-vision which helps you locate the output port.

Othere features of the Horse include full speed MANE compatability. No other console can compete - but it isn't bullet proof - only the Xbox has proved to be so. The Gamecube can be towed behind a car which is impressive - but a good Horse could tow the car.

You pays your money and takes your pick.

Remember, Xbox live costs money too. And I don't think MAME is so big a deal; a lot of people don't want to chip their box, and it's not doing much homebrew that a 1/3-decent PC can't do.

I have all 3 systems. If I had to give some up,

PS2 would be first, then X-box.

Really, it comes down to the exclusive titles each system offers.

No one can help you decide which game selection is best for you:

On Xbox, I like Halo and Jet Set Radio and am getting Crimson Skies and KotOR for Christmas. And there is GTA3 and VC which is PS2's only saving frace.

GameCube, there's been a ton of great stuff like Metroid, Monkey Ball, Smash Bros, Rogue Squadrons, etc etc.

Look at the games. Decide which group you like better. Go for that system.

Well, let's stack them up:

NINTEDO GAMECUBE = $99

- 3 awesome games for free: Legend of Zelda 1, Ocarina of Time, and Masks of Majora

- 1 sucky game: Adventure of Link

- and your parents will give you two extra games like Metroid Prime or Eternal Darkness which are both awesome

- Total = one console + 5 good games

MICROSOFT X BOX = $180

- 2 awesome games for free: Star Wars Clone Wars, Jet Set Radio

- 2 lousy games for free: Tetris Worlds, Sega GT bonus disc.

- Total = one console + 2 good games

I'd go with the Cube if it was me. In fact, I did just a few weeks ago. :-)

And if you planned on never buying another game again then this would be a good comparison.

Like the others said, see which game library you like the most and go with that system.

- 1 sucky game: Adventure of Link

Just to get on an argumentative tangent, I think Adventure of Link is often under-rated. In fact, it's my favorite pre-N64 Zelda game, the only one I finished (albeit with the help of the old black-covered player's guide.)

It had a decent overland game combined with a fun side-view action game. I thought its sword combat was terrific, not 'til ZOoT did Zelda have that much swordplay fun again.

I admit it was a bit of a tagent, I went back to the original Zelda and was surprised at how much of the game mechanic was the same as ZOoT, especially in the dungeons. But still, it was a heckload of fun.

Still, overall, I gotta go w/ my original advice: figure out how much you want each console's exclusive titles and/or Xbox's online feautres (if you're willing to pay for that) and go for the one that has more appeal. That's the only truly siginificant reason to really like one system over the others these days.
