video game addict #6 Posted December 24, 2003 So long as you've set a fair opening bid it doesn't hurt to post does it? Everything that sells is one less item to sell down the road, and a cheaper chance to sell! Sometimes I post things that get no bids, even at cheap prices, a free listing day gives me a free chance to post, and give it another shot! Sometimes thou, so many people post on these days, that there are problems jsut getting stuff uploaded, especially a problem with Mr Lister, and also many many auctions, so things get lost on the bay, as so many new items are added, that you item might go unnoticed. But hey a free shot is still a free shot!

tyranthraxus #8 Posted December 24, 2003 You don't seem to understand how the prices work for listing items. Are you saying that they also wave their percentage of the final sale? All my auctions cost me 30 cents to list. I just start everything low and just wait for it to get bidded up. I never 'protect my investment' with a high opening bid which has a larger fee. I start low and hope for the best and it almost always sells for the going rate or a bit less. Saving 30 cents on a listing isn't an advantage when the bids are going to be a few dollars less than what I'd get in a busier time of year. However, if you were to list a boatload of common games that won't sell for much more than a buck or two then I can see why 30 cents would be a substantial saving. I am someone who prefers to sell stuff in large lots.
CPUWIZ #9 Posted December 24, 2003 What I mean is that the price depends on the opening bid. If you list something at a starting bid of $999.99 it's still free and would normally cost a lot more than $0.30.

RCmodeler #12 Posted December 26, 2003 I've got ~20 bottles of shampoo I want to get rid of. This is probably a good day to do that. Otherwise I'd spend ~$6.00.

atari_sammysue #14 Posted December 26, 2003 This is just a way for ebay to make money. They do this because as mentioned above sales after christmas is slow no money. They still get there final percentage cut. So this is what they see in there eyes the more listing the more items they recieve a cut from. . Smart if your in business. Ebay wouldnt do a free listing if there was no money involved. Thats my two cents.
