Kirby's Air Ride---it's NOT cute.

Hey, I just found a tough game in a cutesy package- Kirby's air ride. The controls are great- a joystick and a fire button. that's all. THat means anyone can pick it up and play. THe city trial mode is the coolest. you pick up items from these boxes, anen you co on a free for all with your powerups. but, there are things to take away your powerups- rivals, crashes..... meteor showers...

 

Anyway, it's a great game. it's fun to try and unlock all the stuff in the game. my thumb hurts now but I hope it feels better in the morning....

 

if you're thinking about getting a game for your gamecube, snag this one, it's the best racing/battle game I've seen in a long time.

I was looking at that awhile ago. I'll probably pick it up when I get the cash, since the In-store demo seemed fun, and I'm a sucker for Kirby games.

Kirby games have always had great gameplay.

Anyone who thinks they're kiddie games is missing out big time.

But unfourtunatly thats Nintendo's curse ....

I wouldn't mind getting it eventually, but I already bought Mario Kart, so it'll be a while before I get around to getting yet another racing game (and F-Zero GX is higher on my list anyways).

 

My brother bought me a broadband adaptor for Christmas, so the prospect of online play might get my interest up a bit though.

man, wait till you see the four player modes. explosions everywhere. it's twisted metal small brawl with hovering stars.

I just now started unlocking stuff. there's 120x3 hidden items in the game to unlock. that's quite a lot. i've only unlocked 28 now. there's some cool vehicles on there though. one looks like some kind of ninja weapon.

Well, I've heard other complaints too. Such as the ability to win a race just by setting the gamepad down and going to the restroom.

And THAT kind of gameplay flaw is inexcusable.

To be honest, I haven't seen so much as one good review of the game. Not that that necessarily means I wouldn't like it, but as I've just got my Cube, I'm trying to build up a library of titles that I already know I want. I may well rent it soon and give it a try, though.

just remember- these revewers will rate a dragster game low because "the tracks are too straight-forward".

As for kirby.... I got it for my son, and as usual, have not had a chance to mess with it.

ok... I have gotten used to the game now..... You have to master every star... I just mastered the compact star- then there's the slick star, the cruise star, the prototype star..... you need a lot of time to really enjoy this game....

You know, not having my subscription to GamePro or GMR anymore...I kind of miss out on some games. What exactly is the Pokemon Channel game?? The Kirby game looks ok...don't think I'd spend much more than $15 on it though...

It's funny, they had a demo disc playing at Gamestop with Double Dash and Air Ride. I played Double Dash and won by a long shot, of course, then thought I'd try Air Ride while the clerks went off on their crack break or whatever.

 

I totally got my ass kicked by the computer!

 

That said, I think 50 bucks is a little much for this particular game. I've seen it online for $35-40 but I think I'm waiting till it hits the $30 mark. I feel the same way about Mario Party 5 (not to mention 4, which is STILL 50 bucks and STILL hard to find!)

I rented this...but the disc was trashed.

 

Luckily I had rented it for 99 cents (new Hollywood Express in town trying to stand up to blockbuster) so I didn't feel so bad.

yeah, the computer's are tough. but it makes you wanna play again, and again, and again....
