Mock #1 Posted January 1, 2004 anyone else like this game? I have been playing it on MAME for the past hour...addictive ! Once you clear all 4 mazes it starts over only faster and the maze blinks in and out...I have scored about 100,000+ so far...had to shut it off before I got mad...lol Mock
joeybastard #2 Posted January 1, 2004 I have never played the coin-op version, in fact I have never seen one in an arcade! I LOVE the CV version though. It's a great mix of Pac-man/Amidar. I may have to go DL the MAME one now, I'm curious to see how it differs from the CV.
SS #3 Posted January 1, 2004 Strangely as much as I profess to dislike the Colecovision I actually prefer that version to the arcade one.
joeybastard #4 Posted January 1, 2004 I just played the arcade one in MAME. The CV version is really spot on perfect. The sound is better in the CV version though! Maybe it's the ROM I got for MAME, it might need samples, I don't know. The arcade version is very tough, I think I like the CV version better just because I can get thru a few boards. SS #5 Posted January 1, 2004 The arcade version is very tough, I think I like the CV version better just because I can get thru a few boards. Ha Ha! I just fired up the MAME version myself and was coming back to say the exact same thing. The arcade version is super hard! Of course, maybe that's because I'm used to playing the Coleco one on level 1.
Mock #6 Posted January 1, 2004 yep the arcade version is faster and harder to maintain control...that would be a killer game if they slowed the movement down on that a little and made the collision detection a little less sensitive, it is impossible to beat one of the bad guys to the corner and close off a box and kill them at the same time, you'll always lose that battle. It's a fun game though... You know EGGS is a bastard MAME game...you guys ever try that one? It makes me angry...lmao....I can't get past the first level. Ze_ro #8 Posted January 1, 2004 Is the MAME version the proper speed? It always seemed far too fast somehow Anyways, I absolutely loved the ColecoVision version when I was a kid... I used to roll the score over all the time (on skill 1 of course). --Zero
SS #9 Posted January 1, 2004 Is the MAME version the proper speed? It always seemed far too fast somehow I can’t say that I’ve ever had the opportunity to play a real machine so MAME is the only way that I’ve ever had the chance to play it. Colecovision has been the crux of my Pepper II playing experience.
Mock #10 Posted January 1, 2004 i've never played a real one either...never even seen one...lol. That's what makes MAME great. I had it on Apple 2 back in the day...
Gregory DG #11 Posted January 1, 2004 I played it the other day just for a few moments... About an hour later I had to go eat dinner! It's a very addicting game and the CV version is very faithful to the original.

MegaManFan #13 Posted January 2, 2004 Same thing with Breakaway IV. Where are I, II, and III? "Where did Leonard Parts I - V go?" -> Black Thought, The Roots

joeybastard #17 Posted January 2, 2004 Same thing with Breakaway IV. Where are I, II, and III? Hmm... what were the Sears dedicated console Breakout games called? Were they called Breakaway I, II and III? It's just a guess and probably horribly wrong
rpmxxipt #18 Posted January 3, 2004 I had it on Apple 2 back in the day... You did??!! I didn't even know there was an apple version of this one! Was it called "Pepper 2"??? BTW, my two cents, Exidy was a WEIRD company. For some reason, all their good stuff ended up only as prototypes from 1983-on and they just went with those ideosyncratic light-gun games (on the same hardware!) until 1988! Mock #19 Posted January 3, 2004 yep...i don't know if it was a hack or what but it was almost just like the arcade except it made an annoying clicking noise as you went around the maze...lol.
Mock #20 Posted January 8, 2004 OK all you MAME people...play Pepper II for about an hour then load up Pacman and play it...if that doesn't screw with your mind, nothing will! Give it a try and you'll see what I mean....lmao. Mock

Brad2600 #22 Posted January 8, 2004 Can someone point me towards a MAME emulator for my computer? I'm tired of watching you all MAMEing about one game or another and I'm missing out on the action.

Zap! #25 Posted October 16, 2008 All kidding aside, what did happen to Pepper I? Has the creator ever answered this? Why would he name it Pepper II for no reason? It defies logic.
