keitaro #1 Posted January 2, 2004 Hi everybody! I´m new here. I´m from Europe and I´m a fan of Atari 2600 (and arcades too) and I need to know what´s the best emulator for the 2600. And now more rookiequestions hehe.Anybody knows how are the average age of game collectors? and ... are there girls fans of retrogaming anywhere? Well , thanks for your attention. bjk7382 #2 Posted January 2, 2004 Z26 for sure. It has the best emulation and options of all the emulators. You can download it here http://www.whimsey.com/z26/z26.html

Thomas Jentzsch #4 Posted January 2, 2004 Z26 for sure. It has the best emulation and options of all the emulators. Yup, though the upcoming next version of Stella looks very promising too.
keitaro #5 Posted January 3, 2004 No problem! I will try both emulators to compare
AtariDude #6 Posted January 6, 2004 I use both Stella (Actual Cyberstella to be exact) and Z26. Both are very good.
Csonicgo #7 Posted January 6, 2004 cyberstella seems to me Stella X with audio and graphics ppallette fixed.
ApolloBoy #8 Posted January 6, 2004 I prefer z26.

compacho #10 Posted January 6, 2004 Please forgive me if this sounds stupid. Are there any "good" emulators that let you play the game in a window instead of fullscreen. UPDATE: Where can i find a download of cyberstella?
Thomas Jentzsch #11 Posted January 7, 2004 Please forgive me if this sounds stupid. Are there any "good" emulators that let you play the game in a window instead of fullscreen. z26 (Windows version!)
bjk7382 #12 Posted January 7, 2004 Please forgive me if this sounds stupid. Are there any "good" emulators that let you play the game in a window instead of fullscreen. z26 (Windows version!) Also PCAE allows that, but it has choppy emulation. Why wouldn't you want to use full screen?
compacho #13 Posted January 7, 2004 I want it in window mode so that i can chat on AIM at the same time. ok, i got Z26 to run in window mode, but how do i get it to start that way all the time? I tried typing those commands in z26.cli file but it won't work. Can someone type a sample on the right way to do it. thanx
Eckhard Stolberg #14 Posted January 8, 2004 z26 saves the current command line settings into the Z26.CLI file, if you don't specify a ROM name. The Z26.CLI file is saved to the current directory and loaded from there on every following start of z26. So if you wanted to set video mode 5 as a window to be the default, you would go to the directory where you normally start z26 from and type: z26 -v15 You should then see a message about z26 saving your settings to the Z26.CLI file. From now on, everytime you start z26 from the same directory, windowed video mode 5 will be used as the default. Ciao, Eckhard Stolberg
