Motor Mayhem for PS2

Recommended Posts

I picked up VCL-Motor Mayhem today for $15, and this game rocks! I didn't even know until I played it that it was made by Beyond Games, the creators of Ultra Vortek on the Jag, and Battlewheels on the Lynx! I LOVE car combat games, and this one is sweet! It makes me wonder what Battlewheels would have looked like if it ever got released on the Jaguar.

Anyone play this one?

Yeah, Grok and Volcana are playable from the start, and Buzzsaw is in there too. They used a different model for Volcana, though. In Ultra Vortek, she was blonde. In Motor Mayhem, she's a redhead. It doesn't bother me any, I love redheads!

It makes sense for Volcana to be made a red head anyway if you really think about it? The vehicle is red, the name Volcana instills the color red in my mind anyway, so it just fits. Personally, I prefer Void when playing the game. Volcana just can't turn fast enough. Neither can Void, but he has much better armor and more deadly firepower to compensate...hehe...

As for the game itself. I think the graphics are terrific and the gameplay is very solid but a bit too easy to master. I have managed to beat the entire game with every character. The PS2 AI in the game just sucks...

The only thing I don't care for is that the vehicles don't turn as well as machines in other car combat games. I don't use the analog stick, I prefer the D-pad. I thought the cars handled worse with analog control.
