Agent57
I had two VERY obscure favorites back in the day: 1. King and Balloon - kind of a goofy concept, I honestly can't say why I like this game so much. I still play it in MAME all the time. http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter...=K&game_id=8311 2. The Electric Yo-Yo - another pretty strange game but I was totally addicted to it. Frustrating as hell and also some VERY annoying sounds when you die. http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter...=E&game_id=7698 If you haven't tried either of these yet, fire up MAME and give 'em a shot! +Random Terrain
Swimmer http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9988 I'd love to buy that game for a home console such as the Playstation 2 or Xbox. I hope someone adds it to an arcade collection.
slapdash
Beezer. I'd sure like to find the Intellivision version...
Tempest
2. The Electric Yo-Yo - another pretty strange game but I was totally addicted to it. Frustrating as hell and also some VERY annoying sounds when you die. Just so you know, Electric Yo-Yo was programmed for the 2600 uner the name Elk Attack. http://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/e...k/elkattack.htm Tempest
adams_ale
My favorite arcade game ever was Rygar. As a kid I blew a lot of money there. I blew a lot of money on Double Dragon in the arcades too but that wasn't obsure in any sense of the word. Thats my two cents.
raindog
I know it's not obscure around here, but until 1997 when I discovered MAME, I found no evidence beyond the one machine I played in a bowling alley in 1984 that Mappy had ever been released in the US. So, my favorite obscure arcade game is Mappy
Robert M
One of my favorites long ago was "The Bounty" http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter...=B&game_id=7203 A very fun little game. Back in the heyday, the big local arcade would sometimes have all the games on free play for half a day. While everyone else stood in line to play Star Wars or Bump 'n Jump, my friends and I would play this game largely by ourselves. Good-times! raindog
my favorite osbscure one hassta be dragon's lair. Damn it would be kewl to play that again. You actually have a number of options to play that nowadays. I bought a win95 version for like 10 bucks at KB a few years back which included Dragons Lair, DL2 and Space Ace. I'm sure that's out of print but ebay or half.com might help you out. The same company (Digital Leisure) has an updated version of that 3-pack here along with a number of other Windows Dragon's Lair versions (including an "Arcade Accurate" one... when I played the win95 one, it seemed more or less as I remembered it, but whatever.) On that same page is a Dragon's Lair 20th Anniversary Edition for DVD players (including the Xbox and PS2 apparently) and a DVD-ROM version with upgraded video for the PC. I guess they have a Mac (OSX only) version now too. If you have one of those, and run some other operating system as I do, you can take the video files and use them in Daphne, the laserdisc game equivalent to MAME. Frankly, you can probably find the MPEG files on ed2k or something if you don't want to shell out the 60 bucks for the current Dragon's Lair packs. (I actually mean to look for Star Rider MPEGs one of these days, seeing as how its pre-rendered graphics are already looking long in the tooth nowadays and no one's ever going to release something like that in the age of F-Zero.) ALl I remember on it was that it had a keybord type controll, not a joy stick. I seam to remember about 10 or so keys. HTe machine itself was grey
