SteveW #1 Posted January 8, 2004 I bought Smuggler's Run 2 - Hostile Territory for PS2 earlier today. I loved the game on the GameCube (Smuggler's Run - Warzones), not so much for the missions, but for the Joyridin' feature, so you can aimlessly drive around and explore the gigantic levels. And find tokens to unlock new levels. I found Hostile Territory cheap, so I picked it up, expecting it to be a different game with new levels and areas to drive in. It's the same thing as the GameCube version, just different names! Why would Smuggler's Run 2 be the same as Smuggler's Run 1, but on different platforms? This pisses me off! PaulEMoz #2 Posted January 8, 2004 Probably because there is already a Smuggler's Run on the PS2.
SteveW #3 Posted January 8, 2004 Then why not call the GameCube version Smuggler's Run 2 too?
PaulEMoz #4 Posted January 8, 2004 Because if there wasn't already a Smuggler's Run on the Gamecube, that is the first version for that system, hence Smuggler's Run and not Smuggler's Run 2. I'm presuming it is the first Smuggler's Run game on the GC, regardless of which version it is.
SteveW #5 Posted January 8, 2004 Yes, but that's never stopped companies putting out a sequel when the original was never made on that system. Blood Omen 2 was on the GC, but not 1. But they still named it Blood Omen 2. The same with 4X4 EVO 2. This is a common thing amongst console games. This naming scheme has been going on for ages. I'm just wondering why they chose to give not only different designations (Smuggler's Run 2 or just plain Smuggler's Run) and also different secondary names (Warzones and Hostile Territory) to identical games. I'm just pissed because I passed over another couple games so I could afford this one. And it turns out that it's the same damn thing I already own. Video #6 Posted January 9, 2004 I personally like Smugglers run better than Smugglers Run 2. I thought about getting Smugglers run on GameCube, because I don't have a PS2 anymore. But I never knew anything about it. With different names, I would have thought it would be different games. But if it's the same, I'll probably wait on it and just play again when I get a PS2 again, or hope it comes out on X-Box, which looks like it's not going to happen.
