M.A.D. Stray shot bug?

Anyone else ever noticed when playing M.A.D. (if you could stand it long enogh) that occasionally one of your shots will go stray and run horizontally just above the structures that you are defending? I've had this happen several times per game at one point.

 

I'm not sure what causes it, but it seems to happen a lot when I am button mashing. Weird.
