Home version of Sega's Time Traveler 3D arcade game

Recommended Posts

There was a thread in which Ze_ro was wishing for a conversion of the arcade game Time Traveler. I ran out to an EB Games tonight, and as I was glancing at the PS2 section....... Sega's Time Traveler was there! Digital Leisure put it out. It's not specifically a PS2 title, although you wouldn't know that because it has several blurbs on the cover about being PlayStation2 compatible. It works in a regular DVD player, although it kind of sucks with a standard DVD player remote. It comes with a pair of 3D red/blue glasses. And best of all, it was $2.99!

I tried playing it a little while ago, in a regular DVD player. The remote made it hard to play. I guess I need to hook up the Logitech Nuon controller to the ol' N501 and check it out with that. I wasn't impressed with the 3D version of the game, either. Oh well. I like it anyway.

The remote made it hard to play.

A PS2 controller makes it hard to play too.

I'm not sure who would want to play this game anyway.  Without the hologram gimmick, what's left?

Not much. There wasn't much to it with the hologram either!

I was mostly being sarcastic... Time Traveler is one of those games that relied solely on a gimmick (it's holograms), and can't really be properly reproduced outside of the arcade.

No, but it was kind of cool for a few minutes. You feel like a character in Star Trek or something.

It made me imagine the possibilities of hologram-based video games. I guess maybe we'll see it when we start seeing flying cars that are controlled by our thoughts. :)
