Arcade Game Show

Recommended Posts

Does anyone seem to recall a game show in the 1980's that revolved kids playing varying coin-op arcade games for a set amount of time trying to rack up more points than their opponent???

My dwindling memory thinks it was called Starcade or something like that?? :?

I'd love to see some episodes again!!!

I don't know if it was on Nick or not ... I seem to think this was pre-cable TV era.

Anyone know the years that this was broadcast???

It's the "all videogame" tv channel. Unfortunately, it's still only available in certain areas of the states (although it seems to be spreading relatively rapidly). You can see more about it at www.g4tv.com if ya want.

Yep, they used to show Starcade several times a day on G4. Now it's more like twice a day or so.

People still talk about the show on the G4 Starcade Forums:

Most of the posters at that forum annoy me - they all whine about how bad the show is and how it should be taken off the air, blah blah blah. I stopped going there for a while and when I checked back in, it was still the same. Those kids need to grow up already! Oh yeah, I still don't have G4 on my Time Warner Digital Cable!!! Good thing you can usually find episodes on usenet!

Well on one of the dutch shows for kids called B.O.O.S. (a show for 10year olds or teens iirc) they played good games of KlaX. I dont know if it was the arcade or any console version (it was at least ten years ago).

Episodes of Starcade are sometimes posted in alt.binaries.emulators.misc (In DivX format), although I haven't seen any in a while. I've collected about 30 episodes from the newsgroups in total.
