Albert #2 Posted January 11, 2004 It's a lot of text to explain the different payment and shipping options, but it would not stop me from bidding on your auctions. The business about requiring signature confirmation with unconfirmed PayPal addresses is interesting. Have you had problems with unconfirmed PayPal addresses in the past? ..Al
FND #3 Posted January 11, 2004 Thanks for the input Al Actually I have not had any problems with the Unconfirmed address yet but I was hoping by using the Signature Confirmation I would have proof that even though I sent to an unconfirmed address the correct person did indeed receive the item. I was also thinking it was to much text and as a result might scare off some bidders, I may have to try and shorten it up.
JerseyDevil #4 Posted January 11, 2004 You don't say anything about regular money orders, only postal. I assume you don't accept regular money orders? Those terms would not scare me off. Actually I would rather everything is explained up front, it avoids miscommunications. But if its too long, people won't read it and yours is not too long. Rick Weis #5 Posted January 11, 2004 the text is a bit long, not that it would stop me from bidding, but might stop some people... the only one that could be a problem is "PayPal Credit Card Only Payments of 50.00 or less accepted without prior approval" on your BIG ticket items not everyone has 1K in their bank account and that also leads me to belive that you would want the buyer to pick up the pay pal charges. correct? but over all, if it was something i HAD to have, NOTHING would stop me from bidding on your auctions! good luck with your auctions! Rick PS: you wouldn't have a boxed lochjaw in those coming soon auctions would ya?
jetset #6 Posted January 11, 2004 Too lengthy but nothing that would scare me away...... Just out of curiosity though, why the stipulation on the paypal w/credit card $50 or less only? Not that I would care too much, it's rare I spend more than $50...... Anyways, I always feel nervous about paying with a money order. That gives me as the buyer absolutely no recourse at all. Of coure, the one probelm I had with buying an item was with someone who only accepted money orders. I guess It scarred me for life.
holygrailvideogames.com #7 Posted January 11, 2004 Requiring a signature for unconfirmed addresses will not protect you. Why on items over $50 do you require approval if someone wants to pay using a credit card with PayPal?
video game addict #8 Posted January 11, 2004 Probably because of fees, or maybe he just has separate accounts for cc/non-cc payments? Regardless, most of that seems acceptable to all here, it may be a tad long thou. You might be better off adding that to your ME page, it takes all of 5 seconds to make, and then using a basic rules setup from your auctions, with a reference to your ME page for further explanation. Question, regarding seller protection thru Paypal, is it a definite refund if you ship to a unconfirmed address & they lie about not receiving goods? I mean, whether you get a Sig or just use the standard DC, you have proof it was delivered correct? So how does a buyer complain when they don't have a verified address, and they lie about not receiving goods? Paypal just say OK, will give you a refund! To non-verified? Or is it something else, more like a reversal of the funds due to a fake CC number or stolen card? And since they never had a verified account, Paypal just takes it back away? I've never had anyone complain against me, but I try to only deal with verified accounts. But I do accept any Paypal payments typically. I've just never fully understood what the deal is as far as verifed/unverified accounts when the seller protection comes into play.
Lemmi #9 Posted January 11, 2004 except for the Postal money order, everything is ok here, i would bid on your stuff, and if your to F'ing lazy to read the whole auction then thats just plain stupid just make the auction look nice and dont have the payment options all clustered into one long sentence (i hate those) I pay for everything with a MO on Ebay and have only been burned once where i didnt get the product (it was a $14 item) i use the Corner Stores Western Union MO's - its just a pain to wait an hour or more at the post office for a Postal MO hope this helps alittle
video game addict #10 Posted January 11, 2004 Postal MOs are easier to cash for the seller, there should be no issues accepting other types thou, What if someone wanted to use Bidpay? That's WU as well. I much prefer Postal MO to the others as well, cash it when I ship off. All the others tend to pile up for a week or two sometimes before I get around to deposit. kheffington #11 Posted January 11, 2004 I do not see anything in the terms that would keep me from bidding. But the terms are too long and will probably not be read by most bidders.
FND #12 Posted January 11, 2004 Wow, Thanks to everyone who responded I really appreciate the comments/advice As for the stipulation on 50.00 Max on credit cards, that was to cover my self for Credit Card charge backs, Not that I have had any problems and I am sure I could work with anyone who is dissatisfied but after reading a few complaints from sellers it looks like anyone can do a charge back at anytime up to six months using the simple excuse that the item was not as described additionally paypal will just take the money back and the buyer only receives a request to send the item back, Kinda scared me off on accepting the large amounts. I think I will remove the signature confirmation stipulation as I had not considered the excellent point made that there would not be much problem as long as the delivery confirmation was used which BTW I always use. I do accept any type of Money Orders but only prefer the Postal money orders, looks like I will need to add that. Oh the 50.00 cc thing had nothing to do with passing the paypal fees on to the buyers, I do accept those fees as the cost of doing business Again thanks to everyone for the comments
