Tempest
I just got an email from Carl that said there's no need to pre-order. He doesn't have any in stock yet, but he'll have enough for everyone. No need to panic.....yet! Tempest
YOK-dfa
Any idea about how much the final price will be? And are there any european dealers selling this? (i don't have a credit card so for me it would be much easier if i could pay for this in euro's) Cheers, Raymond

As they are in Germany money tranfers is quiet cheap from Suomi.
chris_lynx1989
this is different than video 61 is stating about availability.they are saying they don't have them in stock too,but to say if you want one soon.once they come in they are going out the door again to the ones that wanted it. unless things change, the last i heard from video 61 on saturday was the fact that they(video 61) and songbird were putting in an order for a comb- ined amount of "25" of them.panic order or not,it is up to you.if you wait too long, there will not be any more to buy.--the lynxer
Jay
They have spent the best part of 3+ years on this title, i'm sure they at least make the effort to make enough copies to go around! Gauranteed to be 100-150+ copies.
Pocket
Much more I think I bet the same numbers Songbird did with it's best sales.
holygrailvideogames.com
The sales of this game might all depend on the price. I am very interested in buying it, but I really don't want to spend $75 for a Lynx title. $40 is about the most that I typically would want to spend on a Lynx game. I am very interested in buying it, but I really don't want to spend $75 for a Lynx title. $40 is about the most that I typically would want to spend on a Lynx game. this is a point i pointed out earlier too.i've been told by some on this forum and on others that as long it comes in at under $100 dollars there will be no problem with selling it to most people that want it.we shall see if this all holds true "on" release day,"and" after it.usually $50+ dollars scares many lynx buyers away from stuff with my experiences on lynx.price is an object with many people.it is not "cost is no object" in the lynx world.that sounds good,it does not seem to usually hold up in practice.--the lynxer
JagWarlord
I sure hope the price isnt over $50. 1 of the reasons I started collecting for the LYNX was the simple fact that the games were inexpensive
chris_lynx1989
i usually like games at $50 or under when they are a new lynx release.the newer stuff from songbird and all has been at $42.95 and $44.95 and these prices have made me cringe a bit at their release.i still say that if you pass $39.95 you are losing out on some lynxers.some prices for things may not be helped too.some lynx game manufacturing can add up to some money you have to try and recoup back in some manner.you have to pass that on in the release price usually.releases from overseas are bad in the fact that the shipping and exchange rates and tariffs can eat you up before you resell the stuff.bringing things in through customs is tough now post 9/11 too.this helped screw up a lot of things for all of us on many fronts. alpine games appears to be one bright spot on the horizon for us--hope it really looks and plays as good as it appears to be.i have seen some nice scans and no real game previews of it.gameplay is really everything with me!then graphics are a big plus too.we'll see.--the lynxer
Mendon
Just my opinion but I don't think $50 is bad for a new Lynx game. GBA games are cheaper ($30 to $35) but they are mass produced whereas someone making a new Lynx (or Jag or 8bit) game doesn't have the "keep the price low" options open to them that Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, etc do. Since I grew up with a Atari 8bit and ST, I always registered all my Shareware programs as a way of saying Thank You to the authors for their support of my system. And I guess thats the way I view these new Jag, Lynx, 8bit, etc. games that are made today: they may cost a few $$$ more but I'm glad someone is still supporting my "orphan" machine and am happy to show my Thanks by paying for it. Also, since I'm willing to pay $50 for an Xbox, GC, or PS2 game then $50 for a Lynx or Jag title isn't that outrageous considering what the author/developers go thru to make them and what I would have if these people weren't compensated for their efforts. Just my opinion. Mendon
Jay
Don't forget the weak dollar in the US, no good saying it better come under $40-50 when it the moment $55-60 is the more likely figure
toughacton
Well I have to say that I'll spring for it. The game looks excellent! Although, I would really like to know for sure if there is going to be a shortage. I mean I'll glady put my name on a list to purchase, but if its not going to be necessary... then why bother. I'd like to hear from songbird to see how many they really are planning on getting, because in all liklihood thats where ill get my copy. chris_lynx1989
we have been in contact with songbird and they are doing a joint order with us for "25" copies of this from duranik. the second shipment may be a time in coming .the first one may be a time in coming too.there is no set price from duranik yet to know what the price will be until release day. i suggest, you contact songbird or video 61 to say you want one.the atari age store was considering carrying this as well at some point in the future. i'm thinking, and hearing the fact that there is going to be an initial shorta- ge of this game for a time.we shall see.the wants by email seem to be on "demand outstripping supply" side of things here.--the lynxer

Songbird
I haven't finalized my order yet, but rest assured Songbird will be acquire plenty of stock to go around. I will post details on release date, retail price, etc. as soon as I receive confirmation from Germany -- but this will take at least a few days to sort out. +davidcalgary29
I'd be happy to spread shortage rumours across a number of gaming sites -- thereby sparking a run of hysterical panic buying, and furthering the commercial success of "Alpine Games" -- for a free cart. Any takers?
SwedenLynxer
Yeah. If you could get a free cart from Video 61. You'll save a lot of money! "$24.95 TOURNEMENT CYBERBALL" And half the cost of Alpine Games may already be secured
chris_lynx1989
i'm not spreading unfounded rumors on many forums.i am only saying what the situation was as of last saturday still.the fact that a combined order of "only" 25 units was all that was still on the roster, and the emails were pouring in for it,was the whole truth."hand on the bible" folks.also,if one wanted one from video 61,at least, they should say so soon.i'm not in it for a free game or anything like that.i am getting a porsche from lance for my birthday next month though. why only settle for just a lynx game, when you can really ride in style instead. i like birthdays.they can be fun. no,i'm not getting a kickback from telling the current release conditions,as they still existed on saturday the 10th.come release time the order size could change.it was not being planned still on sat.believe what you want to believe guys. if i want one for myself, i was told to say that i "did" quickly upon release,as these would be gone very quickly.(both of my hands on the bible now)--the lynxer

bruce182
Aye, some guy Carl emailed me stating that he will be stocking "PLENTY" copies of alpine games, enough to go round. Wonder if this is the same guy that runs Songbird Productions or just a random Carl that emailled me. Hang on, I remember I emailled Carl to reserve a copy because I had seen some posts about Alpine games being a limited release only 12 copies BUT cannot tell you when, where, what game is, opps I told you it was apline games must self destruct all existing copies of games. Wait a minute, heres a copy of the email........................... Thank you for your recent emails regarding the soon release of Alpine Games. No retail price has been established yet, but Songbird will be carrying enough stock to satisfy all orders based on current interest. No pre-order commitment is necessary, but I do sincerely appreciate everyone's support! Ordering from Songbird is a great way to express your appreciation for all the work I've done through Songbird to support the Lynx over the past 5 years. And for those who asked -- Songbird does not have any other near releases for the Lynx. Games such as Ultravore and Distant Lands will be a minimum of 6-12 months before completion, and even that is not committed at this time. Thanks again, Carl Forhan Songbird Productions http://songbird-productions.com Ah so we can also rule out "Ultravore" and "Distant Lands" as the mystery Lynx game, that was "RUMOURED" to have been released over the weekend. chris_lynx1989
i never said that it was to be a limited or real limited release.you can only buy what dealers have on hand to buy. video 61 was not planning on ordering many of these.the emails coming in "may" have changed the stance carl was going to be taking on this.demand can change an order for a release.video 61 may still order more than a dozen copies too.no real reason to order a ton of these and not move the things at all.that is rather foolhardy.if it is popular then the calls and emails will dictate the order possibly.if you have two dealers and their plans are to order low,you ask the "field" if that order is valid.the lynx market is a niche thing nowa- days and you sell no more than possibly 200 of a release.you only make or order what is needed.sometimes you even make or make provisions for a few extra,if needed.i only stated,as i was told, that was there did seem to appear to be a feeding frenzy on this.also,we might have a bit of a short term shortage on early shipments we received from duranik.you can under order and/or under produce something.duranik probably won't do more than 250 units.many more would probably be silly.the demand or the pre-orders will be the gauge on this. --the lynxer
