Selling my car

Recommended Posts

Before I do the ebay route, figured I would offer it to AA members. I know its not practical, but it sure is fun :)

1985 Chevrolet Corvette

Leather interior, 390 Horsepower 4 bolt main Bluprinted "Saturday Night Special" engine (415 foot pounds torque) installed in 2000 with 6K miles, custom built 700R4 race ready transmission (have all documents, overhaul was 2100 bucks(!) and has a warranty), Clarion Pro Audio stereo system with 2 5 channel Alpine 500 Watt Amps (MB Quart rears and AVI separate fronts), 2 10 inch subs mounted in composite custom cabinets (down in the storage wells), MANY upgrades (new headliner, radiator, weatherstriping, seals, condenser, stainless muffler eliminator exhaust, etc). Engine parts and wheels custom polished. Painted single tone blue in 98, some fading but still amazing overall. All paperwork, extra power antenna, manual on CDROM. Insane to drive and it WILL turn heads. 12,000, willing to sell to AA member for 10K even and will pay for airline ticket to come pick up.

Email me if you like :)

Would you be willing to take a Vader, a Quadrun, 2 Red Lable Space Invaders, and an E.T. in trade for it (and I'll pay my own airline ticket)??? :D

Nice looking piece of machinery there, Cassidy!!

:)

Test drives are fine, but the airfare is on you ;)

I don't figure it changes the value much, but I have a Fugi logo on the back window that says "Wanna Play?". You all are the only ones that can appreciate that.

Its funny, I actually used that car as my daily driver as a single guy before I got big into games. The arcades meant I needed a truck, and thats when all the 'fun' started... (in other words, making an impractical car even MORE impractical).

Thanks for the kind words, fellas. You know, it might look nice with a 2600 in the dash....

The car is in Alexandria, VA. I will pay airfare for the new owner from anywhere in the US to come get it and drive her home. Gas for the drive home is on you (did I mention its not terribly efficient?)

Xot, I am sure the Mrs. would love it.. :) Just forward the news to her than your tax refund and the loan were very easy....

HHW, thats a sweet ride! I had a 79 CJ that I loved for years. Ugly body, but you could not kill it.

I was doing 140mph and a drunk crossed into my lane. I went off the road and flipped end over end 6 times. Someone who saw it all said it looked like a crash you see on the Indy 500. The entire engine came out and parts of the car were scattered for several blocks. It landed upside down and pinned me in. It flattened the windshield posts and tore the entire convertable top off. I was not wearing a seat belt which saved my life because I was thrown sideways laying under both seats with my head out one side and my feet out the other. The day before I had the car in a show and won first place in my class.

After I got the insurance money I went out and bought a 61 Vette:

I'm glad you are ok after that one (assuming if you bought another one, must be). I guess no more high speed in the C2?

I know the fuel curve on the stock GM computer cuts off over 150 in mine. I have not ever felt the need to find out for sure :)

I had no seatbelt on, it was a convertible, and I was doing a bit over 140mph. I got a small cut on my forehead, and a small cut on my chest when they pulled me out. That's all. No broken bones, no stitches. It took them 45 minutes to get me out from under the car. The whole time I was trapped I was looking at the battery hanging by the cables and swinging back and forth by my head. (the battery in this car is right behind the drivers seat). I had also just filled it up and fuel was running everywhere, including all over me. They got there and I heard them talking to the hospital on their radio. They were saying stuff like possible broken bones, internal injuries, broken neck, etc. They also put a guy with a hose right next to me and told him to "open it up" if he even saw a spark. It was certainly not my time to go.

Yes, I've heard that before, sometimes, not wearing a belt, can save lifes. If you only knew when and when not, he ...

Anyway, I think if I survived such a crash, I would never dare to sit back behind the wheel, I guess ...

And that '61 vette is a real beauty! I have a friend overhere who has a '68 Ford Mustang. Also a nice car, and hard to find overhere in Belgium ;) But nothing beats a vette!

Cheers,

Your 71 looks sort of like my 77, its blue with lightning bolt stripes on it.

if that second one is your vett, that is awesome, it will be worth a ton of cash when you are 80, just dont wreck it like the 71

:D

I had an accident something like that last summer, only mine didn't involve flipping or anything. I was hit by a drunk driver who, had they been half a second earlier or later would have definitely killed me. My poor escort was torn to shreds, although the pictures that I took of it don't show it too much. I managed to escape with just a really screwed up knee.

It doesn't show it here, but the whole frame was bent about three inches and the panels on the side of the car that I was not hit on were all crumpled up too. The grill shot off about 75 feet down the road (and is the only part of the car I still own). When the ambulance arrived, they couldn't believe I didn't lose control and fly into the ditch.

Anywho, the whole point of this is to say that first off, my seatbelt did save my life so it is totally a "sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't" thing, and as soon as I could, I got back in a car and took it driving, including over the exact road where I was hit. It's just something that you have to keep driving after it, and I just thank whomever or whatever it was that was looking after me that day.

Perhaps when my settlement is paid, I'll be able to afford a nice car like Cassidy's Corvette... Or my dream car, a DeLorean  Until then, I've got another Escort, although this time it's got an airbag. I'm actually scared of it because of the first accident. Can anyone shed some more light on how exactly these things work? I've seen them and I've had some people explain them to me slightly, but no one that has actually had one go off for them has told me anything detailed.
