DC Speed Devils is awesome!

I have been trying to play through my Dreamcast collection lately, and today I pulled out Speed Devils. Wow! This game absolutely rocks! It reminds me of a cross between Hydro Thunder and Rush 2049, and it has a great career mode too.

 

Anyone else been really impressed by this game?

It is a lot of fun, but only if you don't pay attention to the fact that once you get ahead of the other cars, you'll never see them again... If you can get ahead in the first lap of a race, you can usually stay far ahead with minimal effort.

 

Otherwise, it is a pretty solid game.

How was the Online version? I bought the original, but I never played the online one.

I have the Online version and I think it sucks. The graphics are okay...but the game is very choppy on my DC and the controls lag horribly. I do have this one original and bought new and I played it once and never touched it again. I have heard the first speed devils is good, but I haven't had the luxery of playing that one yet, much less find it locally at a price that isn't over $14 used.

Speed devils is awesome indeed, A different kind of racer for the DC and just pure fun. I recomend to anyone,

I absoutely LOVE Speed Devils. Blew me away. So much fun to play. It may not be the most graphically advanced, it certainly isn't the most realistic, but it's got eveything it needs to be fun to play.

 

I have the original, and I did hear that the Online version is not as good, mainly from reading the online reviews, like at IGN. So IMO if you've got the original, don't bother with the online version. It doesn't give you anything new, really, especially now.

 

What I love about Speed Devils is how in the tracks you really get a sense you're going somewhere, not just driving in a circle. And the scenery is just beautiful, and I like the variety in weather and conditions.

 

And the "career mode" with the betting is a lot of fun. Starting off with a clunker and working your way up. The races sure are slow to start. I love taking other racers' cars! And earning money to buy new cars - lotsa fun. First time through I was so eager to get enough money to buy one of those hot cars I saw in the showroom.

 

I like the control in this game, which was something I had a problem with in games like Daytona USA. I also like how I can win a race in this game, unlike Rush - in Rush, it seems once you get behind, you can never catch up.

 

I'd say it's probably my most favorite DC racer, and most favorite DC game in general.
