Pitfall II - Lost Caverns (1984) (Activision) [!].a26

This doesn't seem to work for me in Z26 or Stella. The file is supposed to be a verified dump and is 10,496 bytes. I found another (in the AA bundle) that is byte-for-byte identical, but is missing the very last byte, making it 10,495 bytes.

Strangely, the shorter one works and the other gets a black screen in both emulators.

Anyone know the story? It would seem that a 10k cart would be 10,240 bytes, which neither of these are.

The binary for Pitfall II contains 8K of code, 2K of graphics data and 255 bytes from the pseudo random number generator. Therefore the 10495 bytes binary is the correct one. I don't know where the extra byte in the longer binnary comes from. But since emulators are recognizing games by file size and checksum, the binary can't be detected properly and therefore would be playing with the wrong bankswitching format.

I think the good one is named "Pitfall II - Lost Caverns (1984)(Activision)[b3].bin" by good2600, it's the only one that works right for me

Yeah the is supposed to mean "bad" dump, but who knows who rules over this collection. Is it Good2600? Who dictates that?

 Good2600 is a ROM renaming program, so the programmer of the tool "dictates" the names (though you can parameterize the names a bit). If there are mistakes, you should send him a mail.

The [b3] rom matches the one from here (AtariAge) perfectly. It seems to be the correct ROM. The others are all actually bad. The [!] is technically an overdump.
