Track & Field with a Trak-ball

Recommended Posts

Usually I ran into the traditional machines, three buttons which had to be slapped silly. But at a laundromat in a crapsville called Fredericktown Ohio I once found a machine which used a trak-ball instead. You had to spin the ball fast (in any direction) to move. It was a lot easier and more fun than the button version. Was this an official Konami machine or did some engineer splice this together at home?

There was one that used the trackball at the old La Mirada mall in CA back in 84/85/86. The control panel was different than the normal control panel. According to http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter...T&game_id=10180 it was a later conversion board. And it was MUCH EASIER and fun to play. I had the top scores on every event, but, DAMN, I got some major blisters from that damn game!

Near Mt. Vermin in Knox county? Yes that's the dump I was referring to. Home of the FFA Jacket and Luke Perry!

I spent my formative childhood years growing up in that neck of the woods. When did you live there? For me it was from '77 to '83. I used to spend almost all of my paper route and lunch money at the "Electric Animal" arcade in Mt. Vernon.

Flashback! I remember the Electric Animal though I wouldnt have remembered the name if you hadn't said it. It shut down around 86 or so. I moved to that area in '83 and got the hell out in '88. That was a lousy area to live in, but at least one could drive to Columbus. In Nebraska there is no hope.
