StanJr #1 Posted January 20, 2004 Can anybody do better than this on the first Case "Safecracker Suite" on Private Eye in terms of both Score and time left? And D.Yancey if you see this, I am very puzzled as to how you completed this case with a whole minute left. I simply cannot believe it is possible. I played it nearly perfect (I made one small stop) and only came up with 36 sec. left.
ToddRogers #2 Posted January 20, 2004 Hello Stan I like the recent berrage of posts you've been doing in reguards to the Activision titles. Here are my submissions in reference to your Private eye game both in Points and Time request I hope you will like them. NovaXpress #3 Posted January 20, 2004 When I was good, I could usually beat 50 seconds and I think I beat a minute. I may need to practice this title.

I played it nearly perfect (I made one small stop) and only came up with 36 sec. left. Hi Stan: I was able to finish with 1:02 left. This is the same as the picture Todd posted above. I was also able to score a perfect score of 101,800, but this required several extra jumps for the questionable characters that do not need to be captured to complete the game. They were merely worth 100 points each and slowed my completion time a bit, just as in Todd's posted photo. You should find it fairly easy to finish with around :59 seconds remaining if you are using all alleys properly and are retreiving the items in the correct order. Take your map and count the EXACT number of screens you must cross for every possible solution and pick the shortest. Every screen you must cross eats up time. Jumpingalso slows your progress considerably. (IMPORTANT)When you must jump, hit and release the button as quickly as possible. This will make your jump lower so that you consume less time in the air. Hope these hints help. I may be able to come up with a few more if you need them later. Let me know how you're doing. Good luck everyone- this is a great game!
StanJr #5 Posted January 20, 2004 Thanks Todd, Yancey. I am in awe of your accomplishments. I've made my own maps, I've plotted routes and I thought I had done the best possible, but wow, this blows my mind. I did not know that about the jumping slowing you down. Good to know. 101,800 with that much time left, wow. I must be hitting some unecessary screens! Incredible. I am stunned. Amazing work gentlemen. I shall strive to meet or beat (?) your scores! How do you do on Case 2? I'm coming in around 101,500 with about 9 seconds. I believe I have optimized the limited routes in that game. Please feel free to blow my mind again! D.Yancey #6 Posted January 20, 2004 Stan: In case 2, 101,600 is the max score possible. Time is the deciding factor in this variation. To max the score, I had to go "out of route" by a few screens to get the final questionable character(hence the 100 point difference between our scores). He is located on the very end of the street. Time ran out on me MANY times before I finally did it. I believe I finished with :02. Best of luck!
StanJr #7 Posted April 26, 2007 Ok, D.Yancey. I've got about a 2 week window right now before I have to get serious about my thesis. I'm going after Private Eye with a hunger, a hunger I tell you. I'm going to crack all 5 cases, even that last bastard. I'm going to crack them and then I will be king of the Private Eye! Well, I'm going to give it a hell of a go anyway. I've got my maps for cases 1-4. I'll be re-drawing cases 3 and 4, because my old maps are not terribly useful. I'll be making an all new map for case 5. (I'll be happy to post these maps when completed if anyone is interested. And, to get things started I've completed a new personal best for case 1. I got 101,800 (perfect) and had 44 sec. left. I'm not sure how to squeeze those last few seconds out to get 55, but I'll work on it. What have you been doing lately, D.Yancey.... and what about the rest of you? Stop playing Gravitar and play a good game for once!

Stop playing Gravitar and play a good game for once! Hey pal: I haven't been playing much recently, but I still browse the forums. Good luck with Private Eye! You can only tie me on games 1-3 since I've maxxed the scores, but games 4 and 5 are wide open to attack! Of course, I've completed these two variations, but not without point loss. Keep us posted for these two incredible weeks, I look forward to hearing about it. D.
