Is it a 130xe or a XE gaming system with the lightgun and a couple of carts included in the box?

A boxed complete 130xe would be $40+ and a boxed XEGS would be a little less maybe $30+. But both have fetched more on eBay.

There's few hundred good games for the XE computers because it is compatible with the whole Atari 8bit computer lineup of carts and disks.

new in the box doesn't make too much of a difference, the XEGS is not very sought after. Maybe $50-60?

8bit sites are very spread out, I actually get most of my information here at Atari Age and they will soon have a 8bit section like the rest of the systems with scans, etc. But a couple of good pages are:

has a game sections with pics.

The old Antic magazines are a great place for reviews and facts about the old Ataris.

i still remember those days that my brother and i bought a brand enw atari 800XE. we had to ditch the box with manuals somewhere to slip the computer in our home. Our mom shouldnt have know about it. otherwise she would be very mad.....too bad i dont have the box of either the atari 800xe and the atari 2600.

they were 5 euros each if i remember. and the games 1,5 euros each. what a time that was....

Thanks for the links oesii. Those games look pretty cool. What vintage is this system, late 80's? Thats the last question ;)

Here's all your answers :)

The 8bits and their games are from 1979-1992 primarily with some newer games mostly in Europe still being produced. The XEGS you have came out around 1987 but has the guts of a 65XE which is a few years earlier and they are all compatible for the most part with the 1979 Atari 800.
