Lord-Chaos #1 Posted January 24, 2004 If you look at ebay.de (ebay.ch or ebay.at or ebay uk), there are many systems , often junior systems with the 32 in 1 and sometimes older 4- or 6-switchers with lots of games. In Germany, the "Quelle" pirate games seem to be common, also several ATARI games, most Activision games like Pitfall and Imagic games, ITT games, several Parker games like Frogger or Q-Bert. Anyone knows which PAL games are rare ? BTW. this auction went high on ebay.de although it´s only a junior. Is this because of the Tigervision carts ? http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...egory=8091&rd=1 Thimo
Spirantho #2 Posted January 24, 2004 Lots of PAL carts are rare, but as for which ones... nobody really knows yet. There are people trying to record them (like IBP on this forum) but the problem there is that we're keeping a tally of what's sold in PAL countries - even though many carts sold are NTSC! Certain manufacturers of carts are scarce - Video Gems, for instance, Sancho, Homevision, K-Telvision, that sort of thing, but also many of the earlier Atari games are harder to find in PAL. Also some very common NTSC carts are much harder to find - try and find a boxed PAL Swordquest Fireworld for instance. Took me ages to get one with instructions, and even then it cost me a pretty penny. Some of the pirate carts are scarcer than others, though nobody really knows yet which is which.. but it's only a matter of time!

YOK-dfa #6 Posted January 24, 2004 Wing war: I would say rare. It shows up on ebay quite often. Technovision games: Rare also. Lately i have seen a lot of them on ebay. The rest of the list i pretty much agree with. Maybe the Carrere games would be extremely rare (you don't see them that often). Cheers, Raymond
deathtrappomegranate #7 Posted January 25, 2004 There are many PAL games that are rare. In fact, there are probably more PAL titles than NTSC overall, and therefore more rare PAL titles. But the problem is not so much with rarity as with value. There are boatloads of pirate carts around. Many of them were made in extremely short production runs, by companies which existed for a very short time. They are therefore very rare indeed. However, value is not simply a function of rarity. Desirability is at least as important. Probably more so. The enduring value of "Bounty Bob Strikes Back" for the 8-bit computers must reflect the playability, and generally good prgramming, of the game, as much as it's rarity, otherwise it would be worth much less. If rarity were the only criterion for value, then no-one would buy NTSC carts at all.

To be honest I wasnt even looking for red labels as I was a total newbie when I got it, it just kind of fell into my lap.........thats life I suppose..... Spirantho #13 Posted January 26, 2004 You mean red labels are rare? Jeeze, I've been propping my bed up with those for years. Some of 'em. Phoenix isn't actually very rare - about a 5, I'd say - as it's difficult to get hold of but does come up quite often. So don't bid on the one I'm bidding on at the moment, capiche? It's actually a very difficult set to build up, as 90% of them are very common in other label forms, so you can't search for them on eBay without getting a tiny signal to noise ratio. Very annoying. For anyone interested, there is actually a red label Missile Command on eBay at the moment - can you find it?
Marco #14 Posted January 26, 2004 red label schmabel... focus people, focus! Cheers, Marco
Atarimania #15 Posted January 27, 2004 Some red boxes are difficult to find as missile command, kangaroo or Yar's revenge. I Know that a red label cartridge of dodge'em exists but I don't know if the red box exists, someone already saw it ? My list of red boxes : Red boxes click on Thumbnails to see the boxes

I Know that a red label cartridge of dodge'em exists but I don't know if the re box exists, someone already saw it ? Don't think I've ever seen one - had quite a job getting hold of Dodge 'Em red label loose! Eventually got it in the same lot as Missile Command red as it happens - but had to pay shipping all the way from Australia to get them! Are we right in thinking, BTW, that Dig Dug is a red box with a silver cart?

Spirantho #18 Posted January 28, 2004 Phew. Womble was saying we might need to find a red label Dig Dug and it's hard enough getting all the reds as it is without making new ones to find!
UK WOMBLE #19 Posted January 28, 2004 I told you already spirantho, I will find a red dig dug just to annoy you......
