Halo with dial up?

Recommended Posts

I want to play Halo (system link) with my Xbox. I wanted to know if you can do it with 56k. If so how does it play, and does it lag? I visited gamespy, but they werent to clear about it. I tried playing it, and couldn't figure out the problem. So is the dial up the problem?

I've never tried it with a 56K, rather a cable modem...but i remember reading that a high bandwith enviornment is a necessity, cause alot of pakets have to be sent...

Halo is absolutely unplayable with 56k. There are several games that play just fine using a dial up connection though. Don't go thru Gamespy as they blow ass. Use XLink it's great even though the current version is beta and as an added bonus you can even play your GameCube games on the same service if you want.

XBConnect or HaloConnect as it has been know is pretty much for Halo only anymore. I can't remember which games run fine on dial up but I do know that Tony Hawk and Tetris are two of them as for oters try some out. I know that hosting with 56k is a no-no but joining a game with small numbers in them can work alright but prepare to get booted if you lagging the game. Your better off getting broadband for XB gaming it makes everything much easier.

the origional halo is playable online?

Yes any system link game can be played online using your PC through sites like xbox-connect etc.

I have heard of people playing Halo with 56K but I would imagine very choppy gameplay. You get lag sometimes using Broadband even on MSs Live service (although it's usually the host trying to have bigger than recommended games)
