interesting how the serial #'s are missing on this obviously not the box that originaly went with the unit,, clean unit I admit.. but those cut out serials make me wonder....

I am 99% sure that this system did not come with the box since the numbers were cut out so you could not check and as far as never played, don't Atari 2600 joysticks come in the box with those little cardboard holders on them when the come new in the Atari box, I mean the four & six switch systems that come in the big black boxes. I think this guy bought a empty Atari 2600 system box of of Ebay and filled it up with his own loose Atari 2600 and is hoping to get well over $100.00 for it and from the looks of the highest bid, it just might.

Best part is the fact that the COMBAT cartridge is missing. Never played per missing cart!

 

Also, why would the power supply say it was for Video Pinball? Looks more like one you would have gone back to the store for when the original burned out.

Were there ever any mail-in promotion/rebate type things for the 2600 back in the days?

I remember there being deals where you buy this system today, mail in this certificate with the proof of purchase to get a free game or controller. Never a real rebate offer from Atari/Sears.
