d8thstar #1 Posted January 27, 2004 hey all, i'm not going to ask where to find roms for the jag emu and i'm sure atari age won't host because of size/bandwidth limitations but i was wondering, are there any roms for the jag that are considered pd? i have a complete jag collection and would like to try an emu out. on the flip side, anyone want to take odds on whether 4play would ever release bs as pd? seeing how carts will more than likely never be made again, i think it might be a cool gesture for them to do for those of us (not me, i have two ) who don't have it and would like to try it out. that plus, it would give the emu authors a rom to really focus on to make playable as it might very well have been the most complicated piece of programming. just a thought, thanks for reading. tony

d8thstar #4 Posted January 27, 2004 no offense punshier but i'm not a pirate, i work in the industry for one of the top video game publishers in the country. i have an extensive collection of games totalling in the thousands, easily. not everybody that asks about roms does so to play games they dont own. LinkoVitch #5 Posted January 27, 2004 I have used ROM's so I can play a game I own without having to remove it from it's shrink wrapped box It's cost me another £40 (more than I paid for the boxed version) but I think worth it
Htbaa #6 Posted January 27, 2004 Wouldn't it be possible to snag the stuff from the BS cart? And then put the files together to get 1 rom? They do it with GBA and all so this should be possible, no?
CHR_AeON #7 Posted January 27, 2004 Wouldn't it be possible to snag the stuff from the BS cart? And then put the files together to get 1 rom? They do it with GBA and all so this should be possible, no? Sure, it'd be possible to dump the rom and host it somewhere. But why would anyone do that? To get sued by Thunderbird/Scatologic? Even if Scatologic is no longer active in publishing Jaguar titles, the game is not freeware. In addition, it'd just hurt the community as the few remaining publishers probably won't release any new titels when they see them floating around the net, some days later... d8thstar #8 Posted January 27, 2004 yes, can be done but no, shouldn't be done. i was simply throwing an idea out there. if i was t-bird and the rest of the crew, i wouldn't release it either. this was just a topic of discussion. beyond the bs topic, are there any roms for the jag that are considered pd? if not, are there any worth chasing to see if any of the small developers who no longer produce would release to the community? Instead of playing them on an emu, you could burn em to a cd (with the Atari Jaguar CD Creator) and play 'em on the Jag CD (needs a bypass cartridge, though). All of the above (except for Assassin) work that way...
