Simon #1 Posted January 27, 2004 Hi, I bought the new 2-DVD-Set about the "101" concert by Depeche Mode yesterday. The concert was held 1988-06-18. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000CEB...01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg The booklet of the DVD contains some more photos than the booklet from the 2-CD/LP set which was released back then. And page 6 of the booklet shows Fletch and right behind him a very big ATARI-logo. I personally like DM now even more. As I don't have got a scanner myself, I try to have the page scanned and show it to you. Simon
highinfidelity #2 Posted January 27, 2004 No surprise: some Atari HC are used to day as sequencers etc. For some reason I don't know specifically, many musicians prefer them to everything newer. Cool movie BTW, I've recently seen it on the big screen at a cinema retrospective in my town. There's a VERY cool version of "The things you said"... Some of the guys going at the gig are nerds, though!
+uosipa llamxew #3 Posted January 27, 2004 I have 101 on cassette somewhere. Depeche Mode are one of my favorite bands. I prefer many of the live versions to the original recordings. I saw Depeche Mode live a few years back when they were on the Singles tour. Great show with Stabbing Westward as the startup band... amazing show! Fletch looks like an Atari geek, doesn't he? LOL! I'm really not surprised. I'll have to look for the video at the rental shop again. I rented it one time and fell asleep (I have a bad habit of falling asleep during movies). Now I'm thinking I might dig out some Depeche Mode and listen to them on the way to school today. Yah... sounds good. kbye
Mindfield #4 Posted January 27, 2004 There were quite a few big names that credit Atari for their music sequencing equipment. Depeche Mode (and Martin Gore in his solo works), Utah Saints (if you haven't seen their CDs, then if you've played Carmageddon TDR 2000, several of their tunes from the album "Two" comprise the soundtrack), 808 State (and by extension any of Graham Massey's remixes), New Order, German synthpoppers Camouflage and Red Flag (both very DM-influenced bands) -- heck, Madonna used to use two STacy machines while on tour. Cassidy Nolen #5 Posted January 27, 2004 Great flick! In one of the venues, there is a Pole Position in the background behind the band, and another shot, somebody is actually playing it. DM is one of my favorite bands. I saw them in 87 and in 98. Both great shows . Cassidy
Nostalgic #6 Posted January 27, 2004 No surprise: some Atari HC are used to day as sequencers etc. For some reason I don't know specifically, many musicians prefer them to everything newer. I remember catching by accident an episode of "Cribs" on MTV, featuring Fatboy Slim. He said he kept his old Atari ST around because it was so much more accurate for timing than more modern computers. That is, if a memory from a couple of years ago is correct... Simon #7 Posted January 28, 2004 DM is one of my favorite bands. I saw them in 87 and in 98. Both great shows . That's great, Cassidy! I only saw them once and as I prefer their old tracks as the original complete team much more, I doubt that I will ever visit another show by DM or its solo-artists. I consider "101" as being their best concert ever and, even if I haven't been in Pasadena back then, I consider that concert as being one of the best concerts of all time and all bands! Unfortunately I don't like the 2-DVD-Set too much, as only 12 songs are recorded on disc 2 and the sequence of the tracks is not the original sequence from the concert. The double CD/LP from back then contained 20 songs. BTW: Did somebody recognize the two white dots in the photo on the back of the DVD-cover? They cover the DM-slogan "Music fXX tXX masses" at the marked points. I wonder why they're there - they look like being put there on purpose. Is that slogan copyrighted by another company maybe? All the best, Simon
