Who did the artwork for all those carts? Hi-res scans?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Even at the age of 9 I loved the artwork for the original set of games for the 2600. Who did them? I can't find a reference to anyone in particular. Also, are there NICE scans of the artwork? The cart scans are ok, but I'd like to know if there's a better source for them. The cart images were small and even 2400dpi scans come out like garbage because of the way they were printed.

I agree, Sorry I don't know who did them. I asked about them a while ago on the forums for the sake of art collecting. The answer I got was yes there were nice version available.

Most of the originals were oil paintings, about 36" x 36" and many hung in the Atari offices.

Where are they now, I wish I knew, but somebody is going to get rich selling them one day.

Actually, the CGE museum had TWO of the original paintings last year. They were Backgammon (as I recall) and WARLORDS! Wow, the Warlords one was incredibly cool. It looked to be a watercolor, but I never bothered to see who the artist was.

If you go to the Digital Press website and check out photos from CGE 2003, I'm pretty sure someone posted a picture of those...

<edit> Here's a picture that I stumbled across... Linked, 'cause the damn picture is HUGE. You may be able to see the artist signature just above the Knight's shoulder...
