joeybastard #1 Posted February 2, 2004 I was playing Paperboy on the GC version of Midway Arcade Treasures and came across something odd. I was on Thursday and I crashed into the 2 skinheads fist fighting infront of the house. Instead of the usual audio clip of the Paperboy saying something, it played what sounded a lot like Nintendo's Punchout saying, "Body Blow! Body Blow! Uppercut!" Isn't that odd to have something that sounds like a Nintendo game in an Atari game?
Adrian M #2 Posted February 2, 2004 That's odd. I'll try this out for myself. Can't say that I've heard it before.

the-daryl #4 Posted February 9, 2004 I've heard that as well! (Same cause, running into the skinheads; but I am honestly not sure if it was Thursday) I couldn't seem to duplicate it tho. (In fact, before reading I sorta thought perhaps I was imagining things. It definately seemed out of place and I have no clue why it's in there, except maybe that punchout was a popular game at one time hehe.)
Justin42 #5 Posted February 10, 2004 Midway really screwed up this release badly; try playing Joust, when the sound is about 1/2 second behind the action. Different games have different delays. Being as the sound is perfectly fine on both the PS2 and Xbox versions, it's obvious someone either royally screwed up, or Midway just doesn't care in the slightest. IGN commented on it in their review, saying it wasn't too big of a problem (but pointed out neither of the other versions have it)... I beg to disagree... As much as I hate to say it (since I really like the Wavebird for this package!) I'd avoid the Gamecube version of MAT like the plague. I've sent Midway an email asking if they will address this issue (HA!) but I haven't gotten any response.
joeybastard #6 Posted February 10, 2004 I think you're being way overly harsh on the GC version. In fact I haven't noticed any lag in the Joust audio at all. I only brought up the Paperboy thing because I think it's odd to have Nintendo samples in an Atari made game. BTW, it doesn't have to be Thursday. I've gotten to happen on every day but Monday. I'm not imagining it.
Justin42 #7 Posted February 10, 2004 I wonder if the sound lag only affects certain GCs? Because the sound in most of the games is so laggy that it really takes most of the fun out of it. Joust is an extreme, but almost all of them are between 1/4 and 1 full second behind on my GC. I've played the Xbox version fairly regularly and it has no problems at all. Avid Fan #8 Posted February 10, 2004 Midway acrade treasures seems fine to me on the CUBE, I havent had any audio delay problems (and I've played just about all of the games on it, in MAME) perhaps there a batch of bad discs or something. Remember the cube version was released last, perhaps that has something to do with it
MegaManFan #9 Posted February 10, 2004 I actually thought Joust was better on the GCN version than on the XBX version, go figure.
