+RangerG #1 Posted February 4, 2004 Well -- my first Ebay trade gone bad . I sent the guy a money order for $48 and he has been stringing me along since late November. He said first that he didn't remember getting the money order and then that he had an accident, but would send the package and check to see if the money order came. I put a search on the money order at the U.S. Post Office, where I got the money order. The #$%@ USPS took 9 weeks to send me the information back and now I have missed the deadline to file with Ebay. I have proof he cashed the money order now, but that doesn't do me any good. I'm going to call the guy (again). I told him I would put him on the AtariAge and DigitalPress bad seller list (DOES AA HAVE ONE?), but his Ebay account is now closed (see vhs2videogames). Any suggestions? Similar stories? From now on any transaction over $25 goes by my Paypal account that is hooked to my AMEX card. I think that is the best bet. Any advice? Thanks, RG
sku_u #2 Posted February 4, 2004 I've been screwed a few times on Ebay. Most recently, I was scammed by a jerk who posted an Outrigger. The only thing you can really do at this point is file a fraud report with the USPS and FBI. They don't do too much investigation-wise other than send a letter, but if the matter is not resolved, it should end up on the seller's credit report which would hurt them in the long run. bjk7382 #3 Posted February 4, 2004 I had somebody do this to me for about $40 when I first started on ebay. I just ended up waiting too long to do anything and then I just forgot about it. That is the ONLY transaction I ever let go to the wind though. I always learn from my mistakes. Now that I think back about that I am getting pissed off all over again. It sucks just throwing $40 bucks away..
+RangerG #4 Posted February 4, 2004 Sku_u I didn't know you can file with the USPS and FBI. I know my money is more than likely gone, but I don't mind doing the paperwork to have something on his credit record. It is just such obvious theft when I have the receipt he cashed and no package and he gives me excuses. Do you have any idea who to contact i.e. file at my local post office, online, etc? I appreciate it. I'm going to call him and tell him the options I have. Take care, RG
+uosipa llamxew #5 Posted February 4, 2004 Does AA have a bad trader list? I'm not aware of one if there is. Perhaps we could get one of the mods to do a Sticky thread of "Bad Traders" underneath the current "List of Recommended Traders". Megabuys.com is an eBay seller who should be on such a list. holygrailvideogames.com #7 Posted February 4, 2004 Here is the link for mail fraud. Between the thought of mail fraud and the FBI investigating him, you might be able to get your money back from him. https://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud...udComplaint.htm

+RangerG #9 Posted March 4, 2004 News from this past Tuesday: Well, well -- 4 months after winning my auction and a ragged box shows up on my doorstop via FedEx ground. The computer inside was obviously tossed into the too small box and now it is cracked in half. However, the seven boxed games also tossed in are OK and I'm happy. I never thought I'd see this package or my money. I contacted the links you all provided and sent in complaints with the seller's home phone number. I suspect a phone call or letter from one of those report bureaus got the seller to suddenly find my package and send it after all these months. Ten emails, two letters, three home phone calls, and two separate fraud reports - persistence pays off this time. Thanks for the help!
MrRetroGamer #10 Posted March 5, 2004 I would just add them to your trader list as bad traders on the bottom or something - I have listed a few of those myself.
