trouble getting my 2600 to work

my name is luis david meneses, and i live in ecuador. i am having some trouble getting my 2600 to work. everytime i turn it on, i getr this black screen and nothing shows up. can somebody tell me what´s wrong??

 

any help would be really appreciated

sounds like the connectors on the games/2600 cart slot are dirty. first try cleaning the carts with some sort of contact cleaner and cotton swab, available at radio shack. if that doesn't work, try cleaning the cart slot on the 2600, you can spray the contact cleaner through the sliding slot.

Does it happen on other carts? Maybe the cart your trying to play is dead?

 

Also make sure the RF connector is in all the way also try switching the channel from 3 to 2 or vice versa.

 

Also the capacitor on the switchboard might have to be replaced as well.

If it does that with all games after cleaning, the TIA or RIOT chip is likely bad.

So I assume best electronics is the only place that carries that stuff anymore? I plan on buying a few things from them prolly next month sometime.
