robsterman #3 Posted May 2, 2001 Awesome Game!!! Yar's Quest is challenging and will keep you hooked for hours. The designer did a first-rate job here. In this game... Nah, why ruin it for you? Figure it out on your own. You'll be glad you did. It is most definitely worth the effort. De Colores, Robsterman
Wntermute #4 Posted May 8, 2001 Would it be possible to get a version that can be played on Stella?
Guest #5 Posted May 8, 2001 It would have to be completely reprogrammed. And programming that for the 2600 would be extremely difficult to say the least.
khryssun #6 Posted May 8, 2001 I would not have said better... that's why I've created VCSS : to program games easely. thanx Alex
Scott Stilphen #7 Posted May 9, 2001 I saw on your website that you had some early screen shots of Yar's, and noticed that one showed a screen with 2 Qotiles on it. I didn't see them on any of the levels - are they still in the game somewhere? Btw, what was the deal with Telegames? I thought Hasbro (or now Infogrames) had the rights to the 2600 library)... Wntermute #8 Posted May 9, 2001 Well, I am a big fan of Yar's Revenge (in fact, I started taping my games for submission to Twin Galaxies.. until my VCR went braindead) and would love to try Yar's Quest.... but VCSS won't run on my iMac. Virtual PC is slow enough as it is and running an emulator in an emulator is just asking for problems.
khryssun #9 Posted May 9, 2001 Answers to Scott : - The screenshot with 2 Qotiles has been taken from the Beta version. I've removed the Qotiles in the final version. - I havent a lot of informations about the rights of the 2600 library. All that I know is that Telegames inc send me an email telling me that Yars Revenge is copyrighted and that I haven't to use the YAR name or graphics... for any commercial purpose. I've found on their web page http://www.telegames.com/publishing.htm that they've published Yar's Revenge for the Gameboy. So logically, they must be the rights owners. Answer to Wntermute : VCSS isn't not an emulator, I's a dev platform designed to produce VCS like games. Technically, it doesn't require a lot of CPU ressources (it is almost completely made in asm). Just wondering about the video mode cause i've used a non standard video mode. Let me know if it works with Virtual PC... I'll post the info on my Web Page. thanx
