zombiecraig
Hey, I'm new to AtariAge (although I did buy a copy of Berzerk: Voice Enhanced at their booth at the 2002 Classic Gaming Expo, I believe), and new to the Atari 5200. I must say that I absolutely love the system. However, I have a two-port model and have heard that there are a few games that will not work on that model, like Pitfall!, for example. Is this true? And if so, what other games may I have a problem with?
+Mitch
Yes, most 2 port 5200s have problems with Pitfall, Mountain King, and Krazy Shootout. This is due to the revised BIOS that they contain. However, some 2 ports do contain the original BIOS, so you could get lucky. You can also swap out the BIOS if you want to restore compatibility as well. zombiecraig
I was just reading the other post about how to insert the 4 port BIOS into the 2 port, and this is something that I would really like to try. Are there any other places to get the 4 port BIOS chip other than just getting a 4 port 5200? Like a parts website or something?
jnice
Best Electronics would be a good place to try. Phone number: 408-278-1070. They also have a website, but most of the information they have on the 5200 system is about their new joystick parts (also a good idea to check out!). www.best-electronics-ca.com
+Mitch
I think I may have one or two EPROMs left that I burned the 4 port BIOS on to. Email me if you want one. Mitch
