Alex #1 Posted February 12, 2004 We made the first major upgrade to the Atari 7800 Rarity Guide since the launch of AtariAge: http://www.atariage.com/software_list.html...l?SystemID=7800 Comments?
Tempest #2 Posted February 12, 2004 Looks good. Those rarity numbers are much more in line with the current state of 7800 collecting (such as it is). Tempest
Gregory DG #3 Posted February 12, 2004 What were some of the titles that changed rarity?
+Mitch #4 Posted February 12, 2004 Aargh, I meant to tweak my survey numbers one more time, but hadn't got around to it yet. Oh well, the new rarity guide looks pretty good. The only ones I really disagree with are that Ace of Aces still looks too low and Pole Position II is too high. How can an O'Shea's game be a "2"? oesii #5 Posted February 12, 2004 One of the ones that stuck out to me was Summer Games and Winter Games both being a '3'. Summer Games is a lot harder to find so Winter Games should probably be a 2 and Summer maybe a 4 or keep it a 3.
Mayhem #6 Posted February 12, 2004 I actually found Winter Games harder to find when I was looking than Summer Games. C'est la vie. If you're wondering why I was, considering I'm in PAL land, call it "complete set collecting"
Tempest #7 Posted February 12, 2004 And I found a boxed Mean 18 for $20 so go fig. Tempest
MegaManFan #8 Posted February 12, 2004 I like the new list a lot. MUCH better. I'm glad I had some input on it too.
sku_u #9 Posted February 12, 2004 The updated list seems much more accurate than the older list. Mean 18 is finally getting recognized as a rare cart, which is also nice to see.
CincYnoTi #10 Posted February 12, 2004 The new guide is much improved! I still think a separate entry is needed for the Video 61 version of the Monitor Cartridge. The Video 61 version is just as rare as anything available from O'Shea, considering it is still in stock and available. How about: Title Company Rarity Monitor Cartridge Harry Dodgson 9 Monitor Cartridge Video 61 R

How about: Title Company Rarity Monitor Cartridge Harry Dodgson 9 Monitor Cartridge Video 61 R I think we've had this discussion before but I still disagree. I consider them label variations and since there are considerably less than 100 made of both version combined, I think the "9" rating is justified. I don't think your O'Shea's analogy applies to this case since O'Shea's has thousands of games sitting around and I doubt Video 61 has more than 3 or 4. Could Video 61 produce more? Sure, but then so could Atari or any other company that wants to. Whether they will or not is another question. Mitch
SS #12 Posted February 13, 2004 Looks about right to me. So, how many people took part in the poll?

Mitch None of the modern day produced homebrews and reproductions have a 1-10 rarity assigned. Hi-Score Cart, Cuttle Cart 2, 2600 Cuttle Cart, 2600 Venture II Treasure Box, any of the limited edition homebrews...all these have known production numbers that are very low, but none are assigned rarity 8, 9, nor 10. I've always thought the rarity guide made a clear distiction between homebrews/reproductions and games made during the age of the classic system.
