wrldstrman
Ihave scuba diver from zellers its not on the list. Was it just overlooked or is it a pirate cart.
Spirantho
IMHO the carts put down as "Zellers" carts are like the "Quelle" carts in Germany- they're just pirate carts that happen to have been sold in that particular store, though there are lots of other places they were available. I've come across PAL carts identical to the "Zellers" ones and there's no Zellers over here. Still interesting though, and still not that common (but not rare). CincYnoTi
there is an entry for scuba diver, but it is listed as PAL and unknown manufacturer: http://www.atariage.com/software_page.html...areLabelID=2183 it is definitely a zellers release... i have the zellers box for scuba diver. SimonTemplar
I have that cart and I would rate it a 5+ in rarity. It should be in the zellers section of the rarity guide, thought.
Marco
Interestin' tidbit: Sears games are considered mainstream or official releases, whereas their counterparts from Zellers, Quelle, and Marpes are treated as foul pirates... Cheers, Marco
SimonTemplar
Maybe it is because Sears was authorized by Atari. The zellers carts were unauthorized and had to be taken off the shelves.
Alex
In the past there were dozens of games attributed to Zellers. We realized that Zellers games are just pirates and are indistinguishable from other pirates when taken as a loose cartridge, so we comprised our list only of games that we have confirmed the red Zellers box with the Zellers name. I have never seen a Scuba Diver box so we have never listed it. There are a few games that I suspect are Zellers but we would rather list them as uknown until we can confirm they were part of the Zellers packaging line (confirm with a box). All the current Zellers titles I have confirmed with a box, even if we don't have a hq scan for it. If anyone has any scans or photos of Zellers boxed games missing from our list, please let me know. Marco
Maybe it is because Sears was authorized by Atari. The zellers carts were unauthorized and had to be taken off the shelves. I still do not know what the exact deal was with Quelle (or Marpes), but it's hard to believe that they were running a fully illegal business that Atari c.s. did not know about. So, I maintain that putting Sears on the official release list is just chauvinism Cheers, Marco
MegaManFan
On the other hand, corporate Atari exhibited a lot of willful ignorance, because they had neither the time nor interest in going after every pirate when they were smug people would come to them for "official" Atari games. Quelle was no different to them than Activision.
Marco
Quelle was no different to them than Activision. And there it is, the end of Atari 2600 pirates! I say all Atari 2600 games were created equal Cheers, Marco
