ussexplorer #1 Posted February 13, 2004 I have read about Goo-Gone and have a few atari carts with nice labels that are red with the name all over it. Donkey Kong and DOnkey Kong Jr for one. I remeber reading somewehre about the goo-gone. Am I right to use this on the label and how goo are the results. I don't want to rub it on the label to have it mess it all up. As for the sticky labels I have used some wd-40 on some labels on rental cases to get ride of the stickers. The big ugly stickers. ANyway their is sometimes leftover sticky. I was wondering if goo-gone would take care of this too. If not I can always re-wb-40 it and remove the rest. Thanks for any help, laters........ sigma #2 Posted February 13, 2004 Goo-gone is citrus based, and will eat the glue from behind the label. I used it all the time on the job when I needed to get labels and tags off of old shelves.
JerseyDevil #3 Posted February 13, 2004 I have had good results removing stickers from the labels of carts as long as the labels are shiny. I use lighter fluid. Just use a paper towel to apply it, keep doing that until it soaks through the sticker and peel it very slowly. Just take your time and be careful and it should work and make sure the lighter fluid you use is naphtha based.
The MilkMan #4 Posted February 13, 2004 What about paint? Will Goo-Gone remove paint from carts? (not on the label) I have a bunch of carts from thrifts, and some ya-hoo used a paint pen to write his name all over the backs of these carts. Not only is there a name on it, but there are little hand drawn hearts and stars to boot. I really need to remove it asap
Susuwatari #5 Posted February 13, 2004 Goo Gone won't work on paint. You want something stronger like Goof Off. It can remove everything including paint and ink but it'll also permantly curl your nose haior so do it outside. Take extreme care the stuff doesn't get on the cart label because it could eat the ink, leaving a blank label behind. Laquerer thinner and acetone will also work on paint but it may be harmful to the plastic.
