Lord-Chaos #1 Posted February 14, 2004 This was a 16 Bit machine by Sinclair , made in the UK, I think it was not very successful. They used microdrive cartridges, some sort of mini-tapes for it, this storage medium was quite bad , it was soon replaced by 3.5" drives by other companies. This is a microdrive cart : Thimo
Malc74 #2 Posted February 14, 2004 The QL was Sinclair's attempt at a business machine. It failed due to Sinclair's legendary reliability problems, coupled with the use of the rather temperamental Microdrive as opposed to an ordinary floppy drive. (Not to mention the fact that the PC was then rapidly becoming the standard). It actually did okay for a while (although it nowhere approached the Spectrum in terms of sales) and was eventually discontinued when Amstrad bought Sinclair in late 1985. There are a couple of faq's on World of Spectrum - http://www.worldofspectrum.org/documentation.html but bear in mind that they haven't been updated in quite a long time.
