Pac Man Vs...pretty nifty

Recommended Posts

So, I saw Pac Man Whatever 2 bundled with Pac Man Vs at Target for $20, and grabbed it. Pac Man Whatever 2 is an instantly forgettable collectathon, hiding objects by using obnoxious camera angles. But Pac Man Vs was pretty cool, first time I bother busting out the GBA connector (even though I theoretically got it for Wind Waker). We only had 3 people, but still it was an interesting challenge...I wasn't as good as my buddies it seemed. Using the GBA as a private monitor isa very innovative idea, I finally got the feeling that Nintendo is trying to do some of the stuff that the DC VMU couldn't...

It was interesting seeing how they tweaked the controls and details of the game (for example, Pac Man has a "speed trail" behind him or else he would be harder to find, characters don't turn on a dime, once all the power pellets are consumed, the pellets dissapear on the ghost's screen to try and prevent camping, etc.)

Anyone else see this, have any thoughts?

i got a thought kirk, being that thing to the meet with your wavebirds! i've been thinking this would be a great game to have going on the living room TV.

Err, wavebird....singular. Should I bring other controllers as well? And a GBA? Or all you all stocked up on that?

it'll be fun.

i thought about putting this in the game olympics but it doesnt work out to a fair game since somebody starts as pac man.

Actually, if you pick a board that's more condusive to the ghosts, I'd imagine it'd make the game more even.

It tries to go in "rounds", with the pacman role being randomly selected at first, and then what ever ghost catches him becoming the Pac.

You can play up to like 5K, 10K, 15K pts, something like that. If you cranked it up to 10K or 15K, then it would take a bit longer, but the person who started out as Pac-Man wouldn't have a particularly big advantage.

If you set the target score to 5K the game ends far, far too fast. 15K is really the only playable option IMO.
