+kisrael #1 Posted February 15, 2004 You know, one thing you don't see enough of these days is fun small title screens. N64 had a few...I think the best was Mario 64, where you could have fun pulling and stretching Mario's giant head. Also, Starfox 64 (just played through it...I don't understand why some people dislike it so) has a neat little feature where the models of the 4 characters standing there will turn their heads to look at the 64 logo that you can move around with the controller... what other games had nifty interactive title screens (beyond press select/start I mean...) cimerians #2 Posted February 15, 2004 I think you named most of them that I can think of. Namco Museum for the PS1 showed load screens with a character (like pac-man) trotting from one side of the screen to another. Pushing a button on the controller caused him to go into a full sprint. Also, a little GALAGA game came up for 5 seconds when you first turned on the PS1, hitting all the enemies gave you a nice little prize. Cool little features while you waited for the game to load.... Tempest #3 Posted February 15, 2004 I know on the title screen for Gunstar Heroes you could keep rotating the logo back and forth until it locked into position. Useless but fun. Tempest
shep #4 Posted February 15, 2004 In Vectorman you could walk around and shoot the Sega logo
Atarinvader #5 Posted February 15, 2004 Activision Anthology for the PS2 has a 3D intro in the style of Barnstorming, which is brilliant. Just thought I'd mention it. On some Gamecube models you can use the C-Stick to move the start-up logo like the menus on Super Smash Bros Melle. Also if you hold down the Z button while booting on the first controller the start up sound changes and if you have 4 controllers in and do the same on each you get a different sound again (The Jungle and Kids respectively). liveinabin #6 Posted February 15, 2004 In Phantasy Star Online, while loading the main game and when connecting to the internet you get to move this little whooshy thing around with your D pad. It wasn't amazing but quite a nice mindless way to spend 5 seconds
+kisrael #7 Posted February 16, 2004 it's amazing how many games just have totally boring intro sequences...
Sylentwulf #8 Posted February 16, 2004 The jaguar's power up/intro screens all let you contrl the spinning jaguar cube logo....
IronMongeR #9 Posted February 16, 2004 The jaguar's power up/intro screens all let you contrl the spinning jaguar cube logo.... REALLY? I never knew that! *Gives it a try...*
Mr.FoodMonster #10 Posted February 16, 2004 In Baulders Gate: Dark Alliance (one and two) you can move the direction the flame burns on the 'Loading' sign. Another 5 second timewaster.
vb_master #11 Posted February 16, 2004 When you start up the 'cube, you can randomly press the A on all controllers (4) to make a different sound.
shep #12 Posted February 16, 2004 When you start up the 'cube' date=' you can randomly press the A because when you hold "a" it takes you to the options screen
+kisrael #13 Posted February 16, 2004 The interactive stuff is the best (more so than just funny noises, that is) I think they did it more in the early days of 3D just to prove that they could...here's a new technology, lets make a toy out of it... Vic George 2K3 #14 Posted February 16, 2004 Activision Anthology for the PS2 has a 3D intro in the style of Barnstorming, which is brilliant. Just thought I'd mention it. There are actually at least three different intros to Activision Anthology for PS2, appearing at random. That one, plus one based on Pitfall and another based on Freeway. cryptik76 #15 Posted February 16, 2004 In the title screen for Iridion II for the Game Boy Advance, you can change various parts of the title music (drums, bass, chords, etc.) to make different combinations.
Jasoco #16 Posted February 17, 2004 They're not interactive as far as I know, but back in the day, Rare had some nice intro's. The Donkey Kong Countries were some good ones. DKC1 started with that wireframe logo and that little tune. Then the logo scaled and Nintendo appeared. That impressed me the first time. DKC2 was the same, but the music was neater. And it stickes in my head. DKC3 was completely different. It had Kiddy and Dixie riding the logo. Then they were on a musical xylophone toy which looked so cool and played a little tune. DK64 just had a rotating N logo then the infamous "DK Rap". Banjo-Kazooie was always fun to watch. After the N logo walks on screen, stops to let a dragonfly go by then the dragonfly hits the Rare logo. Camera pans down to the ground and the Banjo-Kazooie crew play a little song for us. Very fun to watch. Banjo-Tooie didn't impress me. Crappy spinning N logo. Pans down to ground. Grunty under a rock while her sidekick tries to get it off her. Conker was fun though. N logo looking all shiny and cool. Chainsaw sound. Chainsaw cuts logo in half. Conker kicks the pieces aside and throws the Chainsaw away. Takes out the Rare logo and says "Marvelous.." Perfect Dark which I completely forgot about has a really nice morphing N logo. Turns from the multicolored N into an ultra-futuristic N logo. Then an intro movie. I can't remember the GoldenEye 007 logo because I lost the game. And it was one of my faves. Damn!
KaineMaxwell #17 Posted February 17, 2004 The intro of Conker cutting the N64 logo in half with a chainsaw still makes me laugh. Dynasty Warriors 3 lets you put some characters into the opening once you beat it with a character from Shu, Wei and Wu.
+kisrael #18 Posted February 17, 2004 Lucasfilm has had a lot of cool ones. Since people are talking a lot about system logos, I thought the spinning 4-Ns of the N64 was about the very best, just visually very clever. GC's funky G and a C in a cube was pretty clever (See below for a little graphic I made about it) but not as much fun 'cause it only works from one angle. That Xbox scifi things is pretty stylish...as in most things, Sony is dull in all its splashscreens, though it has some nice sounds.

shep #20 Posted February 17, 2004 And here's the N-logo I love so much... I agree that the N64 logo is cool. I think the N64 and Gamecube have the coolest logos.
Jasoco #21 Posted February 17, 2004 And here's the N-logo I love so much... I agree that the N64 logo is cool. I think the N64 and Gamecube have the coolest logos. They look especially cool as special items in Animal Crossing. Especially the Cube logo which has a nice shiny glass look. The Cubes opening animation is the most impressive I've seen in a while. The PS2 and even the Xbox with its Undoubtedly Pre-rendered video of a bubbling green goo don't impress me. The first time I connected up my Cube and turned it on, I was so amazed by the neat animation and music. Just recently I got back into the Cube. For a while I wasn't big on it again. I hadn't bought a Cube game in a while. But when I got Zelda and now Animal Crossing, I've been re-awakened. I really hope they bring the Donkey Konga over here. I really could use a cool gadget for my Cube.
+kisrael #22 Posted February 17, 2004 The Cubes opening animation is the most impressive I've seen in a while. The PS2 and even the Xbox with its Undoubtedly Pre-rendered video of a bubbling green goo don't impress me. The first time I connected up my Cube and turned it on, I was so amazed by the neat animation and music. It took me a while to see the hidden "GC" in the cube (which is why I made that little diagram above). I was wondering how they'd animate it, since it only works from one anlge, but I agree it's cool how the inner part of the box draws the rest of itself. In terms of music, yeah....I sometimes find myself kind of singing along to the normal tune, especially for that final little "BONK" noise at the end.
