Finally ... unlocked Ms. Pac-Man in PMW2

Recommended Posts

It took quite a while ... this morning Cafeman Jr. and I finally got the 180th token and unlocked Ms. Pac-Man in the GCN Pac-Man World 2! I kept thinking, all this effort for a game I already own on PSx... but it was worth it for the thrill of beating something.

We were down to only about 4 tokens left and I tried many times to get them in Time Trial and Bonus Tokens in Shark Attack and Scuba Duba. I also nabbed one in a Volcanic level. Trying to beat some of these levels in Time Trial is a real exercise in patience, because if you die there is no continue, you gotta start the level over.

Anyone else play this game this much? (Incidentally, Caf Jr got most of the tokens, not me). And, is there a cheat which unlocks the arcade games?

But anyway, I like Ms. Pac-Man quite a bit. I hadn't played it for quite a while and had a good half hour or so playing the mazes, watching the intermissions.

That is all. :)

I've only got somewere around 60-70 tokens myself. I haven't finished the game yet, and I keep meaning to go back to it... but just when I finish my latest game, I end up finding another and starting on that instead. I finished Wind Waker just a few weeks ago, and now got hooked on P.N.03 instead.

One of these days...

Oh, and how many tokens are there in total? Does getting 180 to get Ms. Pac-Man mean you have to get ALL of the tokens in ALL of the levels... or is there some extra ones to provide some lee-way? And also... what's in the museum?

This game is hard. I'm nowhere near beating it, and I'm one token away from Pac-Attack. Not bad though, since I bought it for Pac-Man Vs., which gets a lot of play, and it was only 15 bucks.

I'm also working on getting Ms. Pacman unlocked. It's quite a challenge. Thank goodness the game is fun enough to keep me coming back.

Hey guys, does anyone else besides me feels that the arcade pacman emulation is pretty crappy?

FYI, none of the games in Pac-Man World or Pac-Man World 2 are emulated.

:? :? :?

If only ... there were... some kind hearted individual .. .who perhaps had , I don't know ... INSIDE INFORMATION ... ;)

Of course, I need no code now. But if I lose my save file someday... then I'd be :x

To answer a question above: there are more than 180 total tokens. I haven't found them all.

That is surprising to me; they are totally re-programmed then? From what I've played, they seem pretty spot-on. Except the orange in Pac-Man is red just like the apple... I figgered that was an emulation color table error.

Yep, all re-written but with the original algorithms.

Why bother though? It's much easier to get all the games out of Namco Arcade Classics. Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man are already available, and with high scores on each you unlock Pac-Attack and Pac-Mania.

Why bother?

I guess because the kids play Pac-Man World 2 a lot and it is convenient to already have it in the system. And the resolution is higher than on PSX. I don't own Namco Classics for GCN or PS2.

Ok CPUWIZ, it's not emulated. But the question still stands. Do u feel the game is running and looking crappy?

It may not run 100% the same but the graphics are taken straight from the arcade EPROM's.

Yep. That's obvious within a couple seconds of playing.

I have an action replay, and figured I'd unlock the last couple games that way if for some reason I didn't feel like just throwing Namco Classics in there instead. :P

PMW2 isn't that bad a game, but it suffers from "non-Nintendo platformitis".... it's kinda linear and there are lots of arbitrary invisible fences preventing you from going where it looks like you should be able to go. It's not as bad as Bomberman Generation's adventure mode though, or that damn Harry Potter game. :x

Well, I don't think Nintendo has an exclusive on interesting platformers, but still. I only played a few levels, but this game just seemed like an annoying collectathon that used its awkward camera angles to achieve any sense of challenge.
