chairmonkey4406 #1 Posted February 18, 2004 I was wondering because I thought it would be cool to have kind of advance wars lan parties. I dont see why it wouldn't becuase they're just like gameboys without a screen.
SS #2 Posted February 18, 2004 I'm sure that you can. AFAIK, the GameBoy Player is architecturally the same as a GBA.
sigma #3 Posted February 18, 2004 I believe you can only connect to other GBAs, and not to other gameboy players. (I could be wrong though, I'm juding this on price difference between the GBP and GBA)
SS #4 Posted February 18, 2004 From the FAQ : Q. Can we connect this to the GameBoy, GameBoy Pocket, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, GameBoy Advance SP and another GameBoy Player? A. Yes, yes, yes, yes and... yes. The first 5 require their respective link cables. Linking to another GameBoy Player is possible, if you have 2 GameCubes and 2 TVs, and 2 GameBoy Players, and the GBA Link Cable of course.

Jasoco #6 Posted February 18, 2004 This is a cool idea Nintendo came up with. Now, what I'd like to know is when they bring the wireless adapter over to the US, could those also work? What kind of range do they have? you could in respect have wireless Game Boy LAN parties across rooms. On games like Animal Crossing and FF:CC, you could have two or more TV's, connect the games together and not even need a GBA. LOL It's cool to see they didn't try and water the Player down like they did the Super Game Boy. Would have been cool if the US SGB could network as well. Oh well. I wouldnt set your standards too high for the wireless adapter. I forsee it being almost like a Cybiko in terms of distance and wireless abilities. Jasoco #8 Posted February 18, 2004 I wouldnt set your standards too high for the wireless adapter. I forsee it being almost like a Cybiko in terms of distance and wireless abilities.I figured that. BTW, how far COULD a Cybiko transmit?
Susuwatari #9 Posted February 18, 2004 It's cool to see they didn't try and water the Player down like they did the Super Game Boy. Would have been cool if the US SGB could network as well. Oh well. SGB could support multiplayer via link, you just have to hack a port into the SGB. Here's a link (in Japanese) http://www.bomber.co.jp/chaola/labo/SGB_comm/ for the pictures and here's an English version: http://www.devrs.com/gb/files/sgbmod.txt (no pictures though) I wouldnt set your standards too high for the wireless adapter. I forsee it being almost like a Cybiko in terms of distance and wireless abilities. Wireless adapter from Nintendo won't work with existing linkable games, you need to have the game with wireless support already built in to use the wireless feature. Pokemon Leaf and Fire are expected to be the first to support this. There are however a 3rd party wireless adapter that will work with existing GBA games. Avid Fan #10 Posted February 18, 2004 The manual that came with my Gameboy Player said NOT to link a GBP with another GBP. But maybe this is just like they said not to use rechargable batteries in gameboys. BTW. Me and my girlfriend cant get a 2 player game of Tetris (original monochrome version) working on our GBA SPs (we have 2 carts) it just wont work. Anybody else have this problem or similar problems with old GB game on GBAs?
Susuwatari #11 Posted February 19, 2004 BTW. Me and my girlfriend cant get a 2 player game of Tetris (original monochrome version) working on our GBA SPs (we have 2 carts) it just wont work. Anybody else have this problem or similar problems with old GB game on GBAs? Are you using the original GB cable or the GBA cable? GBA cable will not work with any GB or GBC games. You need to find the older cable made for GB Piocket or Color.
